we lie down together
chest to chest
heart to heart
counting beats
counting eyes
counting the amount of times
your lips part
to drink the cold
right out of the air
because your soul is burning
i'll hold your hand
and you'll trace my fingers
as my world sinks
the sky breaks
and the clouds crash down on us
bright eyed children
riding bikes down the streets
streets full of memories
with their spirits rising
to the top of their heads
while mine sinks
through the soles of my feet
life goes too fast
i keep missing the beat
chasing the steps
behind the rest of the crowd
if only we could slow down
wake up in a new town
pull our socks over cold feet
so they don't shatter meeting the floor
shoulders held down by a beast
shrouded in shadows pulling out teeth
to open my eyes
to get out of bed
to walk across the hall
to open the door
to open my mouth
everything seems like too much to bear
so can we just lay here
chest to chest
heart to heart
counting beats
counting eyes
counting the amount of times
you press your lips to mine
and my cold chills your soul
while your heat melts mine
can we just lie here
in a world that slows down
together living life
inside a bottle of syrupTake it slow. It's okay. You're doing great. Just lie down, and pretend you're waking up in slowtown. Eat and stay hydrated! Love youuuuu!
