Chapter 26: Caring, Afraid, and confusions

Ashlynn's P.O.V

"Do you still love me?" Max said.

"I care about you. Why you ask?"

"Because of well... slender man and all..."

"You're still you and that's all that really matters..." I said nervously. "I would prefer you were human," I said giving him a half smile.

"Well, I should get going." I said I stood up and walked away. "bye."

Max's P.O.V

I could tell that she was scared of me. Why wouldn't she? I'm the slender man for god's sake!

Ashlynn's P.O.V

What the hell is wrong with you Ashlynn? I ask my self. I'm afraid. Okay? I'm afraid! I hate myself for doing that. I raked a hand through my red hair. I don't know what to do... I'm so confused.

I'm going to find this dude. That did this to Max. I'm going to make him change him back. Maybe.

I stalked up the hill that leads up to the road. I was sprinting down the road when I hit something hard. I looked up to find a guy around eighteen with brownish black hair and hazel eyes some guy, I met at prom.

"I'm sorry." I apologized. "I wasn't looking where I was going."

"No worries. I'm Sebastian Smith. Have you seen Mathew Willis?"

"Uh yeah- how'd you know I knew him."

He swore under his breath. "I'm-"

"Change him back please."

"You have to figure out how." At that, he walked away.

I thought and thought but nothing came up.

The smell of winter hits my nose. I sigh. Where did summer go?

I arrived at Embers house.

"Ready to do our college applications?"

"I guess."

Max's P.O.V

Someone was walking down the pathway. I quickly zip away and look at him from a distance then I quickly attack.

"Turn me back!" I say choking him with my arm.

"If-You-Kill-Me-" he swallows hard. "You-wont-turn-back-to-normal-ever." He try's to say.

I let him go.

"I told your little girlfriend Ashlynn that she has to figure it out herself." He said rubbing his throat. "She needs to learn to love not to care. If you tell her that I'll kill you and the people you love."

"Fine, I won't tell her just don't touch her."

"Fine. I won't. If you won't." He throws his hands up in the air.

"But-"

"Eh eh eh." He waves a finger at me. "No buts." He snaps his fingers and disappears.

"Do you actually love Max?" Ember asks.

"Yea- oh my gosh. I know what to do now!" I said grabbing her shoulders and shaking her.
