| Chapter 8 |

It was already April. Spring was warm and comforting here in this state. It seems that was the season for us. Flowers were in bloom, birds and animals scurried around comfortably, and the air was warm and fresh.

And I was stuck in my room with allergies. "Nuggers," I whispered just after I sneezed for the sixth time in the last four minutes.

"Here, drink this," my grandmother commanded gently as she handed me a couple pills of allergy medicine. I downed it with the water she handed to me as well.

"Thanks," I replied with my voice sounding muffled due to my clogged up nose.

My grandmother had the faintest of smiles on her face and I pouted. "You find this funny," I commented with my voice cracking slightly. She actually chuckled as she began to walk out of the room.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. You were always the one to suffer with allergies," she replied as she walked out.

"Wait, what?" I asked once her comment sunk in. The way she said it made it seem like out of others, I was the only one. Eh. She was probably talking between the three of us.

I groaned and leaned back down on my bed. It's been three months since that last dream of mine yet nothing strange happened after. No other weird dream to clue me in. I guess I was mistaken and it was all just a nightmare like my grandmother said.

I looked out my window and enjoyed the sun shining like disco lights through the leaves. Even though winter time held my heart, I could appreciate the beauty of the other seasons.

If only I could control a season, I'd make sure it happened properly, I thought as I began to close my eyes to rest.

I found myself standing at the edge of a forest, at the mouth that would spit me out into the clearing where the trees were like mighty fortresses. It cast long shadows across the clearing, giving it a haunting look.

A single log cabin sat towards the back, in the thickness of the shadows. If I wasn't looking for it, it seems, I would have surely missed it.

My mouth seemed to move but not a sound came out. Actually, there was no noise, even as the trees swayed with the heavy winds. I then felt myself turning around to face a person to my left.

The girl in front of me was breathtaking. She had long, flowing black hair that was the type of straight I envied. It was like a curtain around her slim yet strong frame. From it, the tips of her pointed ears were visible.

She seemed to be my height in the dream with sharp and angular features. And her eyes. The clearest of green that could make the forest cry of jealousy. The finishing touch was the glittery silver wings that would flutter open and close as if she were as nervous as I felt, even though her face didn't express it. It just carried a solemn look to it.

Her mouth moved in reply but not a sound was heard. I crossed my arms over my chest and shook my head. But with a roll of her eyes, she pushed me forward with a head jerk and I stumbled towards the cabin.

Only two words were heard before I awoke confused. "It's time."
