"Dominant hand on the gun. I don't wanna see yo' index finger nowhere near that trigger unless you're prepared to shoot a nigga right here and right now." The bass in his voice was enough to make it feel as though the walls were shaking around them. "Use your other hand to steady it. Stand up like you got a damn weapon in your hand, girl."
He barked the orders at her like she was actually capable of keeping up. The current ringing in her ears and the wave of nauseous she kept feeling should've been sign enough that she shouldn't even be here. Yet and still, her feet never moved an inch as she tired to hide her trembling hands as best as she could.
"You really think I'ma believe that your little ass is somebody to fear when you can't even hold the gun straight?" The feeling of warm breath tickling the back of her neck is enough to make her jump slightly and practically drop the weapon all together.
"Please stop doing that."
He continues to ignore the small statement she finally musters up the courage to say since he walked in. His hands finding her elbows as slightly bumps each one to straighten out the lower half of her arms. His fingertips traveling down to her lower abdomen to straighten out her posture makes her want to move as far away from him as she can. But, she continues to keep her mouth shut and her eyes focused.
"Ain't nobody gonna be scared of no female holding a gun if she ain't looking them in the eyes. To y'all, everything is personal. Whether it's because somebody gave y'all the wrong look or if it's because some nigga underestimated you. This gun ain't for child's play. This right here has the power to end lives, so I don't want you picking this shit up unless it's personal. You hear me?" His lecture spoken directly into her ear continued despite the rhetorical question. "If you don't have the confidence to look someone in the eyes before you take their life, then you ain't ready for this, baby girl."
A chuckle follows the end of his statement as he swiftly untangles the weapon from her hands before she even has a chance to register his movements. His laugh is the only thing she can focus on in the moment as she lets out a deep breath of frustration.
He wanted confidence?
She takes a moment to gather herself, blocking out the sound of the male's mocking laughter as she inhaled and then exhaled deeply. She turns around, her leg instantly scooping from under her to set him off balance. Whether he was shocked or just simply unprepared for her to actually do such a thing, she takes the opportunity to twist and lock his exposed wrist as he fell to the ground, resulting in him loosening his grip on the gun involuntarily.
Taking it to her advantage, she wastes no time in snatching the weapon from his hold. She stands back up on her feet, dominant hand wrapped around the gun as her left hand helps to keep it aligned and steady. Her feet firmly placed on the ground as her arms point directly towards her target. The barrel of the gun staring right down at him.
Her eyes met his with a glare that said more than she needed to open her mouth and explain.
It had gotten personal, alright.
Her chest heaves up and down. The adrenaline that's currently racing in her veins is a new experience all in itself that she isn't quite sure how to react to. However, the confidence in her voice isn't to be questioned or challenged. The male had come to learn that later on.
Exhaling sharply, Cadence makes it more than clear.
"I'm ready."
