Chapter VIII - Annabeth
ANNABETH SLEPT UNEASILY THAT NIGHT. She had a searing pain in her arm, like a thousand hot ions were being pressed into her skin and she kept hearing evil cackling. She heard her mothers voice, 'This will help in your time of greatest need." and she saw a giant the size of a skyscraper. The giant was standing in the wreckage of a huge city, surrounded by the dead bodies of her friends. She saw a girl, wearing white with frost hanging in the air around her, standing by Nico, and then her fuzzy, shattered dream switched to another view. A stretched pallatte of human skin, marked with a flying owl. The image felt like it was branded onto her retinas and she heard the sound of Percy's voice calling to her for help. Everything went black.
Annabeth woke up, with the same searing pain as in her dream, coming from her arm. She looked at her arm, and nearly screamed. There, branded on her arm as if it had been there forever was an image of an owl in flight. It was black, and the detail was immaculate. It looked as if the owl was watching her.
She recalled her mothers words and shivered, wondering how this could ever help her. She looked up at the sky.
"Please! Can't you make this simple?"she pleaded, but there was no reply and she flopped back onto her bed. She tried to wash off the mark, but it wouldnt go away, if anything, it became more prominent.
She pulled out Daedalus' laptop and sifted through a few notes, pausing on a design for a transforming sword. She heard a shout and closed the laptop, standing up.
"Whta the..." she muttered, drawing her dagger. She stepped outside and Travis Stoll nearly collided with her.
"Oh gods Annabeth, you need to come now. It's Percy and... " Annabeths heart stopped when she heard the end of the sentence.
"Rachael has just told him he's going to die."
{I edited this because I didn't really like it... }
