Briar Rose

Chapter 2

Xander's POV (Xander)

I was fighting my wolf for control. It wasn't his fault that he wanted to protect his mate. Yes, I probably know what you thinking: A 19 year old having a 13 year old for a mate. But look at it like this, I know of wolves that are 18 and having a baby as their mate, so don't go all concerned on me. But anyway, my wolf really wanted to hurt some kids. They need to know how to treat others with respect. And as Briar was their future Luna, they were lucky that I didn't rip them to pieces. But to be fair, they didn't know she was their Luna. I take her back to the classroom and see all of the kids quiet and trembling slightly in their seats. Good. I have a thing or two to say to them about respect. I have Briar sit in the seat behind the teacher's desk and as I'm doing so one of the kids are stupid enough to open their mouth and say, "EW! You're going to get a disease. What makes her so special? Get back to your seat, runt." That was when I lost it and and I said, well more like roared, "You have no right to speak to her that way! She is your future Luna and I demand you show her some respect! You are lucky I don't tear you apart, but as your punishment, you will be in the dungeon for 2 weeks." I was on the verge of shifting, but my wolf stopped  me just in time. He said, "If you shift now, you could hurt everyone in here." I stopped him and said, "Like I care, " "Think about Briar Rose, you could hurt her really bad, possibly even kill her. You wouldn't want that, would you?" He interrupted me by saying this. I did get what he was saying. But the Alpha in me was fighting for control, but the male side in me didn't want to hurt my mate as the Alpha side didn't either.

School was over, and I took Briar by the hand and took her to my car. But before we got there, she took her hand out of mine and asked "Am I your mate? Tell me the truth." I nodded my head and she started to cry again. But I realized they were happy tears. I smiled and hugged her trying to ignore the spark that erupted between us every time we touched. I know she isn't anyway near ready to mate, but until then I will be her best friend and protect her with my life if it came down to it. So until I know she's ready, I will protect her forever and ever. 

Well, this story is turning out better than I expected. I am really excited for what it will come to be, but until next time.
