The wait

I am sick of this school! The stingy walls, the bland decor, the bleak colours that bring the darkest thoughts to ones mind. The school had finally found a new principal, Principal Marley, and she ultimately made things better, but, as my Father once said while trying to fix the crashed car, that was unfortunately, past repair, "you can't polish a turd!" The only thing that made life at Prufrock Preparatory school even the slightest bit interesting is the fact that I share a dorm with my brothers, Duncan and Quigley Quagmire. They share a room, and I have a room to myself. The living area is a boring shade of cream with two  boring brown sofa's and a boring brown chair to match. In front of the sofa, there was placed a boring wood table with no pattern or decoration, and in front of that, there was a boring T.V stand that matched the table with a large T.V on top. There were desks placed at either end of the room and the doors that led to our rooms were labelled with our names on little chalk boards. Mine read
You know you'll adore her
Here you'll find Isadora
I couldn't resist a couplet. My brothers and I had tried making our room more interesting, but failed miserably and gave up soon after our first attempt. In fact, we agreed it looked better as it was!
Although the three of us are reunited, I still find it hard to be happy. Quigley told us that he had run into the Baudelaire's a year and a half ago. I miss them. Especially Klaus. But if nobody has seen them is 18 months then it's obvious that Count Olaf killed them all and got his filthy, villainous hands on their fortune. When Quigley told Duncan and I how long it had been, I grieved for months. I missed Violet, she was my best friend, the best I ever had, and darling Sunny, she was so clever, even for her age! But I missed Klaus the most. I still do, there wasn't a day that went by on that blasted hot air home that I didn't think of him, and I hoped he was safe and that Count Olaf would give up and leave them alone. Obviously my wish didn't come true...

"Isadora?" Duncan was the one who caught my attention, I looked up and saw concern in his eyes "principal Marley wants to see us"

I put down my worn copy of "The Incomplete History of Secret Organisations" and followed my brothers to the Principal's office.
I walked down the bleak corridors, listening intently to the sound of my shoes on the ground. The strong smell of damp made my head spin and I almost lost my balance more than once. We reached the Principal's office at 7:30. Dinner had just been cleared away from the Cafeteria and the dinner ladies were all heading home, walking in a tight group and passing around an odorous cigarette. Quigley knocked on the clean door of Marley's office before it opened and we were greeted by a warm smile and shining eyes. Principal Marley looked far too young to be a school principal, her long, blond hair fell to her waist and hung gracefully over her shoulders, she wore a tight red top that clung to her slim figure. The bright top was tucked into a short skirt that floated behind her as she moved. She had a small round face with ocean blue eyes and soft pink lips. She didn't need makeup to look pretty and honestly I was completely jealous of her looks. When she spoke to us, her voice rang through the corridors like the melody from a piano.

"Hello Quagmire's!!" She sang " we have new students arriving shortly and am I right in thinking that you have to spare beds in your dormitory?"

"Yes miss" Duncan said staring at her tall figure in awe "one in Isadora's room and one in ours" he finished beckoning towards himself and Quigley

"Perfect!" Principal Marley clapped her hands and her smile grew wider "I have assigned them to your dormitory, I hope that you will be the good examples that I know you all are?"

"Of course we will Miss, we would be happy to wait here for them if you would prefer, it would save you a long walk to our rooms." Quigley, always thinking of others.

"That would be lovely, just help them get settled and then off to bed." Marley said, before saying goodnight and gently closing the door behind her.
We sat on the bench outside the office and stared at the trophy cabinet at the end of the corridor, not that we could see anything anyway, we were too far.

"Who do you reckon the new students will be?" Duncan asked

"I don't know, it could be anyone" Quigley countered, while I sat in silence, thinking of everything that I wished I had. Parents, friends, a home, Klaus...
It felt like I had been sat on that bench for months. My back was beginning to get sore and the new students were nowhere to be seen. I hate waiting. It just builds unnecessary suspense. I was consumed deep in my thoughts when two familiar voices echoed through the empty halls. I knew I had heard them before but I couldn't figure out where. I watched the corridor when two familiar figures appeared in front of the dusty trophy case. They stopped and stood there staring at us. We stood up and stood there staring at them.

"Isadora?" A voice asked, it came from the tallest of the two.

"KLAUS!" I cried, I broke into a run and threw myself at him, he caught me in his arms and I threw mine around his neck and held on like I was never going to let go. He buried his face in my hair and he held onto me, lifting my feet from the ground.

"QUIGLEY!" The other voice cried out, that was definitely Violet

"VIOLET!" Quigley shouted and both broke into a run, meeting each other half way and wrapping their arms around each other just and Klaus and I had done.

"I missed you so so much Klaus, I thought that you were dead" I said and I cried onto his shoulder, not sure if they were tears of joy or tears of relief.

"Hey it's...ohhh...I'm interrupting something here aren't I!? Dang! Always the fifth wheel!" Duncan said, his voice full of exasperation. And through the tears we all managed to laugh.

"I missed you Duncan!" Klaus said, placing me on the ground and moving around so that he could pull Duncan into a hug.
The next ten minutes were filled with hugs, greetings and tears before Quigley finally asked "Hey, where's Sunny?"

"A nursery just down the road, we thought she should get some education fit for her actual age" Violet replied laughing and turning to look at Quigley. We set off back to our dorm and walked in silence, just enjoying each other's company.
