New beginnings

Violet and Quigley had never looked more happy in their life! Everyday for the next five years, they had smiled. When Rosie was born, when they got engaged, then they got married, and Rosie went to school for the first time. They were the cutest family I had ever seen! And what made it better, is that I was happy too.

Klaus and I hadn't broken up since our fight over Fiona. We had been happy since Rosie was born. It's like she brought everyone together, without her, Klaus and I wouldn't be where we are now.

As it was Rosie's fifth birthday today, it was also my five year anniversary with Klaus. The plan was to spend the day with everyone else, and then we had a dinner reservation at 8:00. Just the two of us.

I woke up, Klaus lying next to me, his hair falling slightly over his eyes, his lips turned up in a gentle smile and his arms wrapped around my waist. I turned around slowly and nuzzled into his defined chest, listening to the rhythm of his heartbeat.

"What are you looking at?"

I crashed back down to earth, as Klaus' voice echoed through my ears.

"Oh, just my gorgeous boyfriend, nothing much" I giggled

"Gorgeous? Wow, Miss Quagmire you make me very happy"

I blushed as we lay there cuddling.

A loud crash echoed through the hallway and the door to our bedroom swung open, Rosie running in and jumping on top of Klaus.

"IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! UNCLE KLAUS IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!! AUNTY ISSY IT'S MY BIRTHDAY YOU NEED TO GET UP FOR PRESENTS!"

"Oh...it's your birthday? We forgot, sorry Rosie Posy" Klaus fibbed, a smile creeping onto his face. Rosie looked like she was about to cry.

"Hey Rosie, we didn't forget, go and wake up Sunny and Beatrice, we'll be there in a minute" I said, giving a nod towards the door, as she climbed over Klaus and off the bed, sprinting out of the door.

"Come on, or we'll be late downstairs" I yawned, wriggling out of Klaus' grip and out of bed. Since we had moved into the same room, we had redecorated. The walls were white, with photos hung all around the room. We were going to buy bookshelves, but we decided that the library was enough. We each had a bedside table with reading lamps, and stacks of books. My clothes were in the wardrobe on my side of the room, and Klaus was the same. It was pretty plain at the moment, but I loved how it made room for more memories. I walked over to my wardrobe, picking out a navy blue dress with pink and yellow flowers on it. I brushed my hair and made my way to the bathroom to do my teeth.

When I came back, Klaus was dressed in his blue jeans and a white shirt. He looked really good!

"Did you put Rosie's present in your wardrobe?" He asked

"I did indeed" I replied, opening the door and pulling out a beautifully wrapped box.

"Perfect, shall we go?"

"Yeah, Rosie'll get impatient" I turned towards the door when I heard Klaus day something else.

"Hey Honey..."

I turned around "Yeah..."

"Happy Anniversary gorgeous"

We all sat in the drawing room, surrounding Rosie as she began excitedly ripping the paper off her presents. She opened all of them before we gave her ours. She ripped the paper off the box and looked inside. Inside, we had placed canvas, paints, pencils, pens, stencils, and sweets. She squealed in delight.

"Oh thank you thank you thank you!" She jumped up and down and showed the contents of the box to Violet.

"Wow, guys, you didn't have to..." she began, but I quickly cut her off.

"We did. Without her, Klaus and I still wouldn't have spoken a word to each other"

We all sat talking for a while before Quigley got up.

"Right, who wants pancakes?"

Everyone's hand shot up. Sunny leapt off the sofa and ran into the kitchen to help prepare the ingredients. For an 9 year old, she was surprisingly fast, and within seconds she was out of sight.

"Sunny! Wait...I want...but...oh, never mind..." Quigley sat back down next to his wife and put his arm around her. "So, any thing special planned for tonight?"

"Just dinner really, we'll leave once Rosie has gone to bed, I would hate to leave her on her birthday" I say, leaning into Klaus' shoulder.

We make general small talk until Sunny walks in, followed by a 6 year old Beatrice. Quigley and Violet officially adopted her soon after Rosie was born and she has been living her since, sharing a room with Sunny and Rosie. The three of them were almost inseparable despite the three years between Sunny and Beatrice. For someone her age, Beatrice was surprisingly athletic. She could run as fast as Klaus and could easily and shockingly gracefully climb up walls, like a flexible spider. She must have slipped into the kitchen to help Sunny.

"Pancakes!" Sunny declares dropping a large plate onto the table. Nobody waited for an invitation. Plates were stacked with pancakes within minutes. I looked around the room at my family. I was happy here, and I didn't want anything to change.
