Out the window

School started again a few days ago. After a good break, I was most definitely not ready to return. I was practically nocturnal the entire time, and becoming accustomed to getting up early was a sudden wake up call. But I had an alright day. Being a high school student, I have a lot of stress, but I try my best.

Today, I had the same routine as always. Get up. Get washed, dressed. Have breakfast. Go to school. Come home. And I did just that, as always, when school starts again.

But when I got home, I started feeling sick. I've not felt so sick for a long time. I really felt like I was going to puke.

But I ignored the sudden sickness that overcame me, and continued with my day. I studied, watched TV, and went to my room.

I sat on my bed, leaning against its headboard. I tapped away at my phone like a robot being coded.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

I Continued tapping, until I saw something in the corner of my eye.

My tapping slowed, and I began looking at what I saw. A shadow walked past my window. It wasn't fast, not slow. Just normal walking speed. My first thoughts were "Perhaps my parents were tending to the garden." But it was late at night. Even I would be worried by that.
"Or maybe they were watching the dog." But the dog was barking downstairs.

I couldn't think of an explanation, but brushed it off as someone in my family taking a look outside.

I continued to tap away at my phone again, speeding up to my original pace. My light, which was nearly gone, flickered softly as it got darker.

Out of the blue, the window across my room, which was open, creaked slightly. I held my breath.

I continued to tap away at my phone, this time writing a story. As I carried on writing, the window creaked again. And as I am writing this very story, Im afraid to tell you that I have remembered something. My parents couldn't have possibly been seen outside my window. I was on the second floor.
