Julia’s POV
*******************************************************************************************
The lights shimmered before my eyes. I could have sworn I had seen Gabriel or maybe it was just my mind playing tricks on me. “Why would he even go out without his Ms. Elitist?” I chuckled and continued to dance but not for long before someone pulled me. I gasped and blinked trying to focus. “Who was it?” My eyes roved from his feet up and froze at his light blue eyes. “Leave me?” I bit out. I stumbled away from him and made my way back to the bar. After ordering I raised my glass only to have it gruffly pulled away from me. With eyes on fire I turned on him and maybe it was the anger or the alcohol but I knew then that it was him. “How could he?” Abel came in then and intervened and he even had the nerve to say I was pregnant and then somehow link me being pregnant to Abel’s presence. “I was so incensed yet maybe it was just the atmosphere I buzzed off or that was what I thought.
“Julia,” Abel called. Abel looked at the figure almost sprawled on the stool and the bar counter; her hair was like a curtain hiding a face that taunted him during the evening. He looked around and spotted Erin and Duke. After a deep breath he picked her up and then carried her out to the car. Five minutes later and everyone was in the car. Abel sat in the front with Duke and Erin at the back. The drive back was silent but Abel kept on glancing back. “Eri,” he finally began. “Ya,” she answered. “Did you know that Julia is pregnant?” For a moment it seemed the car almost halted until Erin burst out in giggles. Abel turned to the back and stared with some anger. “That’s not freaking funny,” he said, “She was drinking do you know what that means.” “Hold up… hold up,” Erin said. There was silence and then Abel turned again to see Erin dozing off. “Erin,” he called. Her eyes shot open and she looked around. “What?” she asked. “Duke go to the hospital right now!” he said. “No wait,” Erin cried. “She’s not pregnant,” “What?” he asked.
After explaining what was happening the atmosphere became tense. “Why?” was all Abel said. Erin shook her head and he knew now that she was far from speaking anymore. Abel looked at Duke and shook his head. “That boss of hers from what I saw he was angry and more.” “Poor guy,” Duke said. Abel shook his head and then spoke. “The sad thing is he thinks I’m with her as in her baby’s father and trust me if he believed that I looked up to be a very bad dad.” A grim line hung on his face. Duke stopped outside Julia’s apartment and looked at the back. “Abe who’s that?” One look outside and Abel got out. The black BMW gleamed in the moonlight. “What do you want?” he bit out. Gabriel stepped forward and looked at him. “I wanted to talk to her,” he said. “Well she can’t right now she’s out for the night,” Gabriel’s footsteps crunched on the driveway as he moved forward towards Abel.
“Abel looked at him advance. His shirt was askew and his eyes reddened and his hair messed up. “I think you should leave,” Abel said. “I’m not going anywhere,” he countered, “Not until I see her.” He came closer and stopped about five paces forward. Abel walked the rest of the way. “Listen you can talk tomorrow ok I’ll tell her you came and she will….” Before he could finish his sentence Gabriel stepped forward and swung. “What the hell is wrong with you Abel cried clutching his cheek. He dove back and swung his fist connecting with Gabriel’s chin. “The car door opened and slammed shut and a moment later Duke was between the two trying to separate them. “What’s wrong with you man,” he shouted at Gabriel. “Julia will be mine, mine,” he shouted and wrenched his hand away from Duke’s grasp. Abel stared at him dumbfounded. “Stalker much?” Abel snickered. Gabriel lounged forward but was caught short by Duke. Abel shook his head and stared at him. He had to do it, he just had to. “Just remember who her baby’s father…is” he said. At his words Gabriel clammed up and stared at him, one hard long look before turning on his heels and heading to the car, minutes later he drove off. Duke looked at Abel and shook his head. “You should not have done that,” he said. “We will see,” came his reply.
