Abel's POV

****************************

I stood there staring at his words. “What did he mean by if it was my baby I had always thought he had known well assumed it to be mine but then wait.” My mind started doing backflips as I tried to come to terms as to what he could have meant. “Could he have possibly even touched her or even slept with her?” My eyes widened as I drank in the thought, “It couldn’t be, Julia wouldn’t have been so shy around him or could she after all he did not know the limits of her and he had noted her reaction on seeing Gabriel. She did feel something for him, something he had not failed to notice from the time he had seen them together. He fixed his collar before making his way back to the dining room whatever it was he was going to find out.

Julia sat back down and sighed. There had been her moment, a lost cause none the less. She smiled weakly at Arabelle and reluctantly picked up her spoon Gabriel entered a few minutes after but she kept her head trained down. The all too wonderful dinner seemed a great task to get through. All she wanted to do was get up, grab her coat and leave everything, everyone. Abel slid into his seat and she could not help but needle him with her eyes. Somehow pieces had begun floating back to her and a semi complete puzzle was inside her mind, as she waited for the right pieces to come to finish it. Abel smiled back at her a cool, nonchalant smile and began to talk. “So honey,” he winked at her, “You should tell your boss that he would be a great candidate for a Godfather don’t you think?” he said. Julia’s eyes widened a swift glance towards Gabe and she saw that his face was a stony, cold mass with a grim line. His face constricted for a moment before the grim line disappeared and a smile formed. “Oh really me, how nice I’d love to be a God father I’d be sure to take extra good care of the mommy.”

There was salad in front of everyone now and Julia could not help but smirk when she saw Abel taking a very violent aim at a cherry tomato. Something was definitely up. She gazed from Abel to Gabriel and her gaze remained fixed on him. His eyes were light blue against the white shirt he had on and his soft pink lips played with a smile which she somehow knew would break into a smirk. “Are you ok dear?” Arabelle’s voice started. Julia turned to see her staring at Abel who had more attacked the salad with his fork than eaten any. He cleared his throat and smiled at her. “I’m very good,” he said and the minute she looked away Julia saw him stare a cold hard glare towards Gabe. A smile tugged at her lips. “Oh sweets will you pass me the salt?’ she piped up. “Sure,” both answered at once. The two boys looked at each other before Abel who was closer plucked the bottle up and smiled as he handed it to her. She thanked him and almost at once noticed the baleful gaze upon Gabriel’s face. Abel was smug as he sat there. Julia shook her head and continued eating.

After dessert Arabelle ushered everyone into the living room as she left to make coffee. Julia took the seat before the enormous fire grate and sighed with contentment. Abel sat on the plush sofa not too far off but Gabriel choose to stand near the fire. Almost at once Julia noticed why he did so. She tugged up her dress on her bust as he cast his eyes upon her. His eyes caught hers in the small fire and she gasped. He was so far yet she felt something, she blushed and looked away. Arabelle entered awhile after carrying a tray with cups and the teapot with cream and sugar. Everyone was given a cup but when it came to Julia, Arabelle stood up. “Oh no you don’t dear don’t tell me you’ve been drinking coffee all this time don’t you know that this is bad for the baby?” Julia’s face became beet red as she sat there.

“Um i. I,” “she tried to answer. “Well don’t worry I made this,” she said and handed Julia a cup of something steaming hot. “What is it?” she asked. Arabelle smiled and spoke. “Tell me what you think dear,” she said with a smile. Julia took a small sip and then swallowed. “Mmmmm,” she moaned. There was a noise like a cup being shaken on a saucer and when she looked up she saw Abel, his cup had spewed forth some coffee on the saucer. She shook her head. “Ginger,” she said, “my favorite.” Arabelle smiled. “It’s good for the baby too,” she chimed in.One look at Gabriel and she wished she had not looked up. He was in the midst of licking his lips, his soft, pink supple lips rested on his cup as he tilted his head back. Her eyes froze taking in his every moment before she herself slowly licked hers. Gabriel stopped mid drink and his eyes found hers. For a moment their eyes met and she was petrified.

Julia‘s mouth opened slightly and then the smirk. That darn smirk he always did. She shook her head and continued drinking her tea. It was sweet just the right sweetness that she liked. She drained her cup after about ten minutes of wanting to make it last and then licked her lips. “Around 9’0 clock Julia decided that if the evening was to go on any further, she would be undressing someone in her mind soon. Her eyes strayed on Gabriel as she got up and smoothed her skirts. “I best be getting home,” she said. “Arabelle looked up from her coffee and a frown came on her face. “So soon?” she cried. “Come now mother,” Gabriel chimed in, “You know they need rest.” A smile formed on her lips and she nodded. After saying her gracious thanks, goodnight and being assured by Arabelle to make sure and call her, even giving her, her cell number Julia finally found herself outside.

Abel had begun to trudge to his car but just as she made to go a cold hand grasped hers. Her breath caught as she turned. “Gabe…” her breath faltered. “Julia I have something to tell you, to consult with you,” he began, “We can talk tomorrow,” she said. He smiled and nodded. I just wanted to tell you before.” She smiled. “Well goodnight,” she said. He smirked. “Goodnight Julia and his hand swept past her arm and made its way to her stomach. “Goodnight little Julia.” She stiffened for a moment before her legs finally pushed her forward. With one last look she smiled and gulped as she walked towards the car.

Abel’s POV

I stared at him from inside the car. She was all red from his talk. I didn’t think much about it until his hand slipped past and landed on her stomach. “What was he telling her?” my mind asked, “It had to do with the baby but… My mind was so confused after his movements lately I was not so sure if Erin knew if Julia was really pregnant or not. Julia got in the car and I looked on as I drove off. He stared at us as I drove off and then I turned to her. My eyes lingered on her lips that were trembling and then to her hands that were clutching her purse tightly. “Are you ok Hun?” I asked. She cleared her throat and then a weak smile formed. “I’m ok,” she answered. The drive back was interlaced with silence, I did not know what to say and I could tell she was thinking. When I stopped in front of her apartment she was still deep in thought. “Julia,” I said. She looked up and blushed. “Hmm now I was curious some thoughts she had to be thinking to blush so much,” I thought, “Was it him and what he had done did they actually hook up once, was it a one night stand Uhh.”

She got out the car and I followed. We walked side by side till we reached her door. She turned then and smiled. “Thanks for everything,” she said. My eyes widened but then I realized what I had been thinking. “Julia,” I began. She looked up and then I stepped closer. I was inches away now, I could smell her sweet scent, lavender mixed with roses or was it vanilla. Her breathing was uneven or was it mine; I closed the distance and captured her lips, her soft sweet pink lips I had been gazing at the whole evening. Her breath caught and before I knew what was happening something hit me. I broke away and her eyes were upon me, confused brown eyes with a furrowed eyebrow. Her arm struck my shoulder before I could talk. “I’m going to kill you and Erin!” she cried. “What wait?” I called but she had opened her door and slammed it shut. “Julia!” I cried, once, twice I waited, my ear to the door but there was only silence. Five minutes after I left. It was only when I was driving away did I realize why she had done what she had. The dinner, I shook my head and sped up I should have taken her when I had a chance now My jaw tightened as I realized that I was not the only one who was out to get her but I promised myself that I would do anything to have HER!
