Gabriel’s POV

The moment I saw the ignorant bastard at the door I knew I would not see her. The fool and who did he think he is. I shook my head and sped up, of course he’s with her and why the devil wouldn’t he be, she was pregnant for heaven’s sakes and he was the only man he had seen around her. He sighed and stared out his window somehow he wanted to do things strange things and she was all the cause for it. Julia even her name melted in his mouth. She was something sweet and smooth like chocolate and he had had many reveries with what could be done that included both her and chocolate. He smirked until a car horn honked behind him. Gosh what was this woman doing to him? He sped up and away trying to banish his thoughts from this morning.

Julia sighed and sat down to her coffee she had been musing over her morning and painfully trying to remember if any damage had been done the night before. Of course she remembered that Gabriel had been there but that was all she remembered. “Uhh,” she moaned and got up, “This was so frustrating.” She needed some time to just be away from it all. After washing her coffee mug she picked up her purse and phone and made her way outside, maybe a trip to the supermarket would help after all it had been ages since she actually bought some things she wanted to eat. Her diet for the past week had consisted solely of coffee, toasts, bagels, cereal and orange juice. A brief walk through the early morning sunshine felt good more so when she finally entered the air conditioned supermarket.

She looked at the lanes and then decided on meat and poultry first, how long had it been since she had had chicken soup or anything with meat for that matter. She made her way over to the freezers and dug out two packets of boneless chicken. After a quick pass at the toiletries section she stopped at the snacks aisle and started browsing. Today felt like a day for splurging on snacks maybe it was because of the way she felt. She was picking out some double chocolate chip cookies when someone called her name. Her eyes swept around and landed on a rather familiar face. She was medium height with striking black curly hair and a soft lilting Hispanic look. “Mrs. Santiago!” she exclaimed. The woman smiled and embraced her. “How are you my dear?” she asked. Julia slimed. “I’m ok for now?” she said. “Oh come now you look stressed,” the woman countered. Julia sighed. No way was she going to tell the mother what she felt about her son. “Is my son causing you so much stress?” Julia’s eyes widened and she quickly shook her head. “Hmm yes I’m sure it’s him he’s been going quite haphazardly about these days it’s beginning to worry me.””I’m sorry,” Julia blurted out. “What my dear hmm you are not to blame, you are a wonderful young woman and well Gabriel hmm I’ve seen him with err a new girl and anyways would you like to come over for dinner I insist of you,” she asked. Julia gulped. Should she really go. “I think Gabriel should be with us too.” Julia was silent before replying. “Sure you won’t mind if I bring a friend will you?” she asked. The woman smiled, “Of course not dear it would be a pleasure.” Julia smiled in relief and after saying goodbyes and another embrace which Julia found was not necessary but graciously accepted they parted ways.

She was barely out of the supermarket before she was punching in Erin’s number. “Hello,” a squeaky high-pitched voice answered on the third ring. “Geez you’re still sleeping it’s 11am Julia laughed. “Yea well you didn’t have a terrible hangover as I did.” She moaned. “Hmm Erin can I beg a favor please,” she asked. “What Ju?” she asked. Julia gulped. “Can you please go with me to dinner at my boss’s mom home,” she let out in one breath. The line went silent. “Erin?” she asked. “Awe Ju you know that dinner might end up a crime scene if I go there,” she answered. “Pleaseeee!!!” Erin, “I really need this, his mom is super nice. “There was a sigh on the line. “And what do I get?” Erin asked. Julia laughed, “Ok I do your laundry for a week.” “No 2 weeks,” Erin countered. “Uhh fine,” Julia said with a smirk. ‘K Ju I’ll see what I can do ok,” she said. “Thank you so much,” Julia added and then smiled after she hung up. Thank Goodness she would have some kind of moral support.

It was 6:30pm and Julia was all set. She wore a pale blue cotton dress and paired it off with black and blue flats and a pair pearl earrings. It was a casual event so she was dressed down. The doorbell rang as she was putting her shoes on and she smiled. “Yess thank you Erin!” she silently prayed. She grabbed her purse and then made her way to the door with a smile plastered on her face. She opened it and then froze. “Abel,” she gasped.
