“Olivia! Wake up!” I heard someone shout.
I groaned and turned away from them. I don’t think anyone would ever understand how comfortable my bed is. It is the perfect combination of softness and warmth, making it impossible to wake up from. I buried my head deep inside my wonderfully fluffy pillow that was more like a dreamy, white cloud than a cheap pillow from the store and tried to go back to sleep.
“If you don’t get up I’m going to dump a bucket of water on you.”
“If you get a drop of water in my bed, be prepared to suffer the consequences.” I mumbled. I slowly sat up and looked at Derrick. “What do you want?” I asked him.
“Just get dressed. I planned something fun, but you’re just pissing me off now. I’m not sure if I want to give you the best day of your life anymore.” He crossed his arms and smiled at me.
“What do you have planned?” I asked as I stood up.
“Well, I didn’t really plan it. I actually don’t have anything to do with it; my only job is to wake you up. Mission accomplished.” I gave me a huge smile like he was so proud of him.
“What did whoever planned this have in mind then?” I asked.
“I don’t really know that either. But you’re supposed to look really pretty. I think. Maybe they said casual? Or were you supposed to wear athletic gear?” He scratched his head like he was really confused.
“Derrick! What am I supposed to wear?” I asked him.
“I don’t know. Pack some of everything. And be ready in,” he looked down at his watch and did some quick math in his head, “26 minutes.”
“26 minutes? Oh my god!” I shouted and ran past him and into the bathroom.
I jumped in the shower and was out in 2 minutes. I smeared some make-up on my face and let my hair air dry into its natural waves. I figured I should play it safe on the outfit and just threw on a pair of jean shorts and a grey v-neck.
I walked out of my room and Derrick gave me a look of approval. “23 minutes. And you still look beautiful!”
“How could you only give me a 26 minute notice?” I asked as I plopped down next to him on the couch.
“Well, I was trying to wake you up for like 2 hours. It was a miracle I woke you up as early as I did.” He gave me a playful smile and looked out the window. “It looks like he’s here! Have fun!” He pushed me off of the couch and stretched his feet out where I was just sitting.
“Jerk. I’m a lady, treat me with some respect.” I said as I went to answer the door.
I opened it up and I saw Lewis standing there. He was standing there in jeans and a white button up shirt, and it sent butterflies through me.
“Hey.” He said, smiling down at me.
“Hey.” I said, smiling back at him like an idiot.
“Are you ready to go? We don’t want to be late.” He looked so shy and awkward that I laughed out loud.
“I’ve been ready for a whole 26 minutes. Where are we going?” I asked as I closed the front door behind me.
“It’s a surprise.” He said.
