Am I going to add the "sharing-umbrella-when-it's-raining-cliché"? You bet your ass I am! I also pulled the "what an idiot. Wait that's my idiot" cliché because I wanted,
Roman wasn't a fan of rain. It made everyone look ridiculous and miserable, and it stopped every activity in camp. He couldn't play volley, he couldn't ride a pegasus, he couldn't go canoeing, he couldn't climb the lava wall. Camp Half Blood wasn't planned for rain, as it couldn't rain inside it, but Roman knew this was Deceit's doing. All Roman could do was sit in the Big House, have a cup of tea and watch the rain.
Of course, it was quite funny watching people run desperately to go away from the rain. One guy slipped and fell on the floor. A girl ran holding her small hands above her head like that was going to stop her from getting wet. A dude in a leather jacket didn't do anything to avoid it, just walked in peace as his dark brown hair soaked into his face. Wait. That's Virgil!
Roman quickly grabbed an umbrella and ran into the boy, protected by the rain by his white and red jacket.
"What are you doing? You're going to get wet!" Roman asked, opening the umbrella.
Virgil shrugged "I don't really care, and this way it's less humiliating."
"Less humiliating - your hair looks like a mop!"
"Look who's saying! You got in the rain for 5 seconds and your hair looks like a dying rat!"
Roman let out an offended gasp, and put a hand in his hair, as if to assure it's still there.
"Well thanks a lot, Prince," Virgil said, turning around "But I don't want to be offended, so goodbye" Virgil started to walk away.
"Wait!" Roman ran to Virgil "I'm sorry. But you can't keep walking on rain. You're gonna get a cold or something."
"I'm fine, Prince"
"Why won't you let me help you?"
Virgil looked at him, at those hurt deep brown eyes, and sighed "Fine, you can walk me."
Roman's eyes lit up. He didn't even knew why, but he had this urge of protecting Virgil, keeping him safe. I mean, he had this urge of protecting everyone, but it was bigger with Virgil. "Great! So, uh, where were you going?"
"I'm not really going anywhere, do you have a place to go?"
Virgil spun on his heels to face Roman, but the floor was slippery and he fell. Well, he didn't fall. He was caught by Roman.
Oh my gods oh my gods oh my gods what the hell what oh my gods.
They were very close. Roman's nose nearly brushed Virgil's. Virgil was wide eyed, - he's scared because of the fall, that's all Roman told himself - so close Roman could see all the specks on his eyes and count all three freckles Virgil had on the nose.
A weird sensation wiggled in Roman's stomach. His face was very very hot, and Roman realized with fear that his face was probably red.
They stood like that, staring at each other, for what felt like eternity. Roman's heartbeat was very fast, for some reason, so loud he could swear Virgil could hear it.
Then Virgil pulled away.
"Thanks..." He muttered, scratching the back of his neck, looking anywhere but at Roman.
"You're welcome..." They stood like that, not looking at each other, until Roman said "Hey, would you like to come to movie time?"
"What?"
"Well, it's this thing I do with Deceit, Patton and Remy, in which we go to the Zeus' cabin and watch some movies. It's fun, you'll like it!" Roman immediately scrolled himself. Why did I even ask him? It's socializing, and he obviously doesn't like socializing, and it's with people he rarely talks to, why did I think this was a good idea? But why did he want so much Virgil's company? Roman found himself praying that Virgil would accept it. For some reason, being with Virgil made him happy.
"Yeah, why not?" Virgil answered, after a while of thinking.
They walked in direction of the Zeus' cabin, sometimes accidentally brushing arms, while Roman tried to understand why his heart was thumping, why he had a weird feeling on his stomach, why his face was so hot and why he couldn't stop smiling.
