Harry Potter : Years 1-7 Pt 1

CHAPTER 10: DETENTIONS AND VOLDEMORT

Caitlin's Prov

Hermione and I were getting ready to meet the boys downstairs as we had our detention tonight we were dressed into some casual clothing slipping on our school cloaks as we headed down the stairs grabbing the boys and walking out the common room to meet Malfoy and Mr Filch was escorting us to detention "Pity they let the old punishments die. There was a time in detention you were found hanging by your thumbs in the dungeons. God I miss the screaming" Filch says as were walking on school ground.

 "Honestly, do you make it your life goal or something to try and scare us students" I said crossing my arms, Filch doesn't say anything just glares at me and grunts walking ahead "Caitlin aren't you scared of anything?" Ron asks me surprised that I wasn't startled by Filch's story "Of course. Everyone's got a fear of some sort Ron, I've just always followed this one saying of mine" "And what's that?" Harry asks "Fear is fear itself. If you don't fear anything it can't hurt you physically, mentally or emotionally" I explain as we approach Hagrid's hut.

"You'll be serving detention with Hagrid tonight. He's got a little job to do inside the dark forest. The sorry lot this is Hagrid" Filch says as Hagrid walk out picking up some arrows he sniffles as if he's upset "Oh good god man, you're not still on about that bloody dragon are you?" I look at Filch then Hagrid "Hagrid, what happened?" "Norbert's gone. Dumbledore sent him off to Romania, to live in a colony" Hagrid explains picking up a crossbow, poor Hagrid.

"Well that's good isn't it? He'll be with his own kind" Hermione says "Yeah but what if he don't like Romania,? What if all the other dragons are mean to him? He's only a baby after all" "Oh for god sake pull yourself together man, you're going into the forest after all. Got to have your wits about you" god I wish someone would throw him down a deep well "The forest? I thought that was a joke" Malfoy says "Blondie, I don't think Filch has a sense of humor. So why would you think he was joking about the forest, they both glare before Malfoy continues what he was saying "We can't go in there. Students aren't allowed and there are...werewolves" as we hear a wolf howl in the far off distance.

"There's more than werewolves in those trees lad, you can be sure of that" Filch says scaring Malfoy a bit ok so as much as I like seeing Malfoy weak, Filch is giving me a headache "Mr Filch, your job finished the second you arrived here so can you stop being a complete ass and piss off already" I said pointing to the archway that leads to the inside of the school. He gives me a death glare that could kill and growl and I return the glare right back at him as he walks away and everyone wide eyed me "What? Never heard a girl call someone a bad name?" they shake their heads in response.

"Right, let's go" Hagrid says and we follow him into the forest. We've been walking for 10 minutes when Hagrid stops and kneels down on one knee sticking two of his fingers in a liquid puddle that was the color of silver bringing his hand up and rubbing the silver liquid between his fingers "Hagrid, What is that?" Harry asks "What we're here for, see that? That's unicorn blood that is, I found one dead a few weeks ago and now this one's been hurt bad by something. So it's our job to go and find the poor beast. Ron, Hermione you'll come with me" "Okay" Ron squeaks out "Harry you'll go with Malfoy and Caitlin, she's in charge" Hagrid says as he splits us into teams.

"Why is she in charge? She's a girl" Draco asks gesturing his head towards me. Wow! Hypocrite much"Because she's braver and got more guts than you two put together" Hagrid replies moving his finger back and forth between Harry and Draco "Okay then I get fang" ok I know Malfoy is not happy with teaming arrangement but does he really need fang as well "Fine. Just so you know, he's bloody coward" as Hagrid says that we all look at Hagrid's dog Fang as he wines back at us.  

After giving us our assignments we all go our separate ways and begin searching the forest. You know surprisingly it feels nice walking through the forest I mean sure there are monsters ad beasts out here but aside from that it's actually quite peaceful but then again I've always preferred walking at night. Malfoy kinda ruins it a bit for me as I would've love if it was just me and Harry and no one else but still getting to walk with him was nice.
