CHAPTER 9: HAPPY MEMORIES AND NIGHTLY WALKS

Harry's Prov

A strong but sweet scent awoke me, using my elbow to sit up I realized I was on the couch in the common room with a blanket over me. I reached over to the table and grabbed my glasses putting them on as I let my eye sight adjust. When I did I fall asleep down here? Just then it all came back to me, that's right I was in the common room going through my thoughts when Caitlin came down bringing me some hot chocolate and keeping me company as we talked and then I remember us cuddling up to each other and I fell asleep listening to her heartbeat.

 Yet Caitlin isn't here with me, she must've pulled the blanket over me...she's so sweet. As I sit up more properly on the couch I realize that I'm holding onto something soft and warm, this is Caitlin's jumper from last night and there's that sweet scent again. When I realize its coming from the jumper I smile as I bring it closer to me as I breathe in the scent...it smells like roses, orange blossoms and vanilla...it smells like her.

I look up to the clock that's on the wall. I better go get ready for class, I get up off the couch and begin to make my way upstairs as I approach closer to the dorm the door to the girls dorm opens and out walks Caitlin all ready dressed in her school uniform and has her hair in a loose side braided ponytail.

 "Oh Harry you're up. Good morning. Did you sleep alright?" she asks " Morning. Uh yea, I did. Thanks...you know for last night" I say blushing a little "It was the best sleep I've ever had" this gets her blushing and she looks so cute when she does "Thanks and it's alright" she walks down to me.

"Well I'm gonna head to breakfast to meet Hermione. You better go get ready and I'll see you in the great hall" she reaches up and fixes a bit of my hair that must've been sticking up "Yea, I'll be there in 10" she smiles and reaches up giving me a kiss on the cheek and begins walking down. I realize I still have something of hers.

 "Wait Caitlin-" she stops and looks up at me "What about your jumper?" she thinks for a minute before giving me a smirk "Keep it. It can help you sleep better at night" my heart races as she gives me a wink and continuing her way down the staircase. I look at the jumper in hand and feel a small smile creep onto my face.

I make my way into the boy's dorm throwing the jumper on my bed and start getting changed. As I put on my school sweater Ron wakes up rubbing his eyes "Morning buddy" I say "Morning" he says groggily "Come on get up. We're meeting the girls in the great hall".

 He groans but pushes himself out of bed and starts grabbing his school gear, as I put on my robe I see Caitlin's jumper still laying on my bed I pick it up smiling at the memory of last night, breath in her scent quickly and carefully hid it under my pillow. Sweet dreams here we come.

****Time Skip*****

The winter season was finally over as spring started making its way to Hogwarts. A slight chill still hung in the air but it was still nice to see a bit of season change. Right now Caitlin and I were in Professor Lupin's office as he was gonna teach us how to defend ourselves against the Dementors "Harry, Caitlin. You came. Now are you two sure about this? You know this is very advanced magic well beyond the ordinary wizarding level" Professor Lupin asks looking down at us from his in class balcony like thing.

 "I'm sure" I say as Caitlin nods her head "Well everything is prepared" he starts making his way down the stairs "Now, the spell I am going to try and teach you is called the Patronus Charm. Ever heard of it?" I say no at the same time Caitlin says yes, Professor Lupin and I both look at her "Well, I actually read a bit about it one time when I was in grandfather's office" she says clearly up what she actually meant "Well then do you want to do me the honors and explain" Lupin says.

"A patronus is a kind of positive force and for a wizard- " "Or witch" Lupin quickly says smiling at her as he sit leans on a big trunk "-Or witch, who can conjure one, it works something like a shield, with the Dementor feeding on it rather than him or her. But in order for the patronus to work you need to think of a happy memory, a very powerful memory"
