Chapter Twelve and a Half

Friday: The Royal Carriage, 1 pm, Jaehwan's POV:

- After Jin had received Yugyeom's obnoxiously sappy letter, it had been decided that you would take Jin's place again and accept the invitation to Kai's party.

- You had understood exactly what Namjoon meant when he said, 'keep them happy'. It had been weird that nobody else noticed, or maybe Yoongi had. Maybe that's why he was here. Your king was right, someone had to go, which was why you had chosen not to tell them all to fuck off. Namjoon couldn't go because he was busy with the war, and the real Jin couldn't for obvious reasons, so you would have to suck it up.

- Namjoon still didn't know what had happened in the garden when Jinyoung asked to talk to you alone. Yoongi had never told anyone, and neither had you. You were a grown man. You could handle this, it was nothing.

- The idea of Prince Yugyeom bugging Jinnie didn't make you happy, and if letting him do what he wanted would make him stop, you weren't going to say no. It's not like you actually mattered, and Jinnie was a king! Plus, you secretly owed him, and even though this wouldn't nearly be enough to make up for sleeping with his husband, it would be a start.

- You were sitting in Jin and Namjoon's carriage across from Yoongi, in full 'Jin' costume, mentally readying yourself for seeing Kai and Yugyeom again. You could care less about Jinyoung, he was just rude, but the other two made you uncomfortable.

- The carriage turned suddenly, and you looked out the window. The familiar tree-lined drive of Kai's palace was all you could see, and Yoongi asked calmly, "Are you ready?"

- You nodded, and the two of you sat in silence until the carriage came to a stop. You took a deep breath, and Jaebum opened the door. Yoongi got out first, and then held a hand out for you. You put your Jin-act on and plastered a smile across your face.

- Jaebum and Yoongi were on either side of you the moment you stepped out of the carriage, but they were pushed a step back almost at once.

- Kai's tall frame enveloped you in a hug, and you held your smile in place, wrapping your arms around his neck despite the fact that you wanted to shove him about 100 feet away.

- You didn't actually need to act like Jin with him, but you saw Crown-prince Jinyoung and Prince Yugyeom and over his shoulder, so it was good that you had.

- "Jinnie, I've missed you," Kai said softly, kissing you on the cheek before pulling away and flashing you a brilliant smile. You managed a happy sounding laugh, and then he was nudged out of the way by Prince Yugyeom.

- "I can't believe your husband let you come!" he exclaimed, sounding a mix of happy and incredulous as he spun you around. You caught a glimpse of Jaebum's face and tried to ignore his look of sheer frustration.

- "Well, I'm here! When does the party start?" you asked in a fake cheerful voice. You noticed Kai's fiancé, Prince Kyungsoo, looking uncharacteristically happy as he gave Yoongi a one-armed hug. Maybe his presence would help keep Kai under control.

- "Tonight, but we need to get you comfortable in your room first. After that is dinner, and then the party," Kai replied, grinning at you over Yugyeom's shoulder.

- The prince still hadn't released you, but you suppressed your aggravation and smiled up at him. He was five years younger than you, the fact that he was as tall as Ravi was seriously unfair.
