⚠️ Trigger Warning: Discussion of food ⚠️
Phil
6 December 2014
"Yes, of course, I'll watch Darcy, Louise." I chirped into the phone at my frantic friend, her and Liam's sitter fell through at the last minute, the two had to get some Christmas shopping done.
"Thank you, Phil! You're a lifesaver!"
"It's no problem, really, you know that I love spending time with her! Are you on the way now?" I walk around my flat stepping into the living room, checking the clock. It was 12:30 PM.
"We'll be there in about thirty minutes to drop her off, is that okay?"
"Sure is, see you then Louise! Oh wait, has she eaten?"
"She has not, but we can stop and pick up something for her." Louise sounds so flustered and I refuse to add more to her list of things to take care of. "Absolutely not, Darcy and I will have lunch together when you drop her off." I insist Darcy is basically my niece so I love doing even the littlest of things with her. "You're a saint!" The woman sighs in relief, "Darcy! Get your shoes, Uncle Phil is--" The sound of her daughter's shrieks of delight makes me chuckle into my cell phone."Oh relax it's fine, I'll be waiting for you guys!"
"Alright, " Even though Louise is audibly frazzled she still giggles at her six-year-old, that little girl's happiness is widely contagious. "bye mate."
"Bye mate," I repeat before hearing the line click dead.

I quickly change into an old t-shirt and joggers, there are two things that I always can count on when that precious child is around, One, somehow managing to get dirty. Two, I will be smiling all day without a doubt. Upon inspection of the kitchen contents, an idea comes to mind, pizza and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Yes, I am fully aware of my lactose intolerance; however, it has never stopped me before. Besides, I'd do anything to make Darcy happy, even if it meant a probable stomach ache.

*Ring*
The doorbell sounds right on schedule, "One second Louise!" I call out pulling the frozen pizza from the freezer and setting it on the island. I'm greeted by the older blonde and a little one who is practically bouncing, "Hi Phil, I'm sorry this is so last minute."
"Louise," I sigh, "again no worries!"
"Liam is waiting in the car I best be going, " she explains before crouching to meet her daughter at eye level, "Darcy, can you be a good girl for Uncle Phil while mummy and Liam go out today?"
"Yes, mummy." The young child answers, her tiny body still bursting with energy. "That's my girl, we'll see you in a few hours." Louise praises before placing a red lipstick kiss on the six-year old's forehead, earning a sound of disgust from her child. "Come here sweetie, " I beckon, bracing myself for the impact of Darcy launching herself into my arms.
"Uncle Phil!" She squeals, her long blonde hair streaming behind her while running."Oh," I let out as Darcy more or less tackles me but she does give great hugs; so who am I to complain? "Hi there little lioness, how are you?" I question, giving a tight little squeeze to the child. "I'm good."
"Well, it looks like you have everything under control."
"Always," I responded, my voice sounding muffled from inside the embrace, I break it so that we both may speak properly. "Okay, now I'm actually going to leave bye honey, have fun!"
