Violet's POV

After our exciting and rebellious day of running off to play laser tag, Andy was less than pleased with me. "Violet, upstairs!" His deep voice echoed through the first floor of the Spades house when he arrived shortly after Rose and I. My heart was racing knowing that he was about to yell at me as he roughly grabbed my arm and dragged me upstairs.

"Andy, please let go you're hurting me," I asked as his tight grip on my wrist felt like it was bruising. He let go and made me walk in front of him so he could make sure I wouldn't go anywhere but where he wanted me to go. He walked into his room after me and slammed the door.

"What were you thinking? You promised me you would go to the apartment and then right back here. I trusted you and this is what happens! Oh, and calling security on us, really Violet? That was so unnecessary!"

"In my defense, I had nothing to do with security," I fought back weakly.

"Not my point." He gritted his teeth and glared at me. "Why do you insist on defying me? Why can't you just listen to me for once?!" He yelled. I sadly sunk into his bed.

"Andy, I just wanted to have fun. I'm sorry I ignored your calls and texts but I knew you would react like this and I didn't feel like getting yelled at and ordered around for once."

"I think my reactions are justified. You know there are people after you and you run off without telling any of us, once again." He said.

I tried to get him to calm down, "Stephen knew where we were. He had a tracking device on his car."

"Which he shouldn't have had to use if you had just kept your word and gone where you said you would!" He said. I looked down. Normally I would have fought back but I did not want to fight with him. I knew that we shouldn't have done that because they finally gave us some freedom and we took advantage of it and made them worry. Although my freedom isn't something that should have to be granted to me by my boyfriend, I knew how that argument would end.

"I'm sorry." I apologized again, hoping to stop him from yelling at me. I was tired and I just wanted to go to sleep. Maybe in my old room in the house where I wouldn't have to look at his angry, disappointed face. I looked up into his angry blue eyes and he just glared at me.

"You don't have anything to say for yourself?!" He yelled. I shrugged and continued to stare up at him.

"I don't want to fight with you. I'm tired, Andy. I'm just tired of you trying to control my life and yelling at me when you can't." I said sadly.

Andy sighed heavily "I'm not trying to be a dictator Vi," He started to calm down. "I'm trying to keep you safe."

"I know," I said quietly. He seemed surprised by how little I was fighting back.

"It wasn't your idea to go to the mall, was it?" He asked, beginning to understand the situation more.

"I wanted to go." I wasn't about to give him another reason to hate Rose. "I just wanted to have fun, like I used to before I..." I stopped talking before I said something I might regret.

"Before you met me?" He finished my sentence. I looked up at him sadly and shook my head.

"Andy, I don't regret meeting you. I'm just missing the freedom I used to have. You can't protect me if it means locking me up like a dog." I said getting up to face him.

"I know your life's different now and that you don't like it but I'm just protecting you the only way I know how. I don't know how to protect you if I'm not with you, or if I don't know where you are." He said. I reached up and stroked his face.
