Ill Never Know Why

Kevin stepped aside letting me walk in. I did so quickly as to not add anything more to the apparent list. I heard the door shut with a soft 'click'. Oh, my... Out in the open, it's easy to call out, but behind closed doors, who is there to hear?

"I expected you home by 5:30... You know that." I could feel his eyes piercing my back.

"I-I'm sorry... T-they dragged me a-along... I-I t-tried k-Kevin... T-they wouldn't-" I felt a seize my throat. I felt my airways closing slowly as he gripped harder.

"I know you know what today is... I thought you would be ecstatic about it, but I guess it's just another day for you." I couldn't breathe anymore. I felt my limbs trying to pull his hand away from my ghost for some air. But no use. Why do I try?

He squeezed harder.

"I thought today, I could be nice. Maybe we could go see a movie, have a nice dinner and maybe a walk in the park. But you go with them instead?" He clicked his tongue. He finally tossed me to the ground. I caught a glimpse of him.

He was a total nightmare straight from a book. The boggy man had nothing on him. Heck, the all feared slender-man never looked more menacing.

"Wrong choice Double Dee. I thought you would learn to away keep me happy." He lifted his foot and stomped it hard on my upper abdomen. I felt my stomach clench.

"Who'd you have sex with Edd? I know you are a lightweight. " he landed another stomp. I whimpered lightly. Don't cry, don't scream, it'll all be over soon.

He smirked as he bent down and picked my head up by my hair. I could already feel some hair being pulled from my skull. "Answer me Edd. Don't keep me waiting."

Tears began to fall, I know I'm a lightweight, but I would never do that to him. I could never sleep with anyone else... Never...

I felt a fist connect with my already bruised cheek. I let out a small whimper. Why wouldn't I speak? It's very simple, I can't. It wouldn't be bad to answer him! Come on Edd! Hurry before he-

Another punch to the jaw. I didn't hear another word he said, I didn't see or hear anything after that. I only felt pain. Excruciating pain. It's was like the light going out, but still being able to feel if someone is in the room.

I don't know if I screamed, or if Kevin stopped. But seeing what he was doing, I highly doubted it. But I could faintly hear sirens. I could feel myself being picked up. Where was I going? Where's Kevin?

~~~~~~~~~~
Beep...Beep...Beep...
I woke to a steady rhythm. I didn't need to ask, I did not need to see. I was in a hospital. He'd beat me so bad it sent me to the hospital
I tried to sit up. But immediate pain ran through my body. Even if I didn't want to, I needed to get up. I needed to know where Kevin was, I needed to know if I could go home with Kevin.
No, they wouldn't allow that. He is probably at a police station, answering questions. Depending on if he was caught or not, questions of what happened to me, and who did it. I tried my hardest not to imagine him behind bars, looking out.
I opened my eyes when I heard the door open and close. Two sets of feet walked in. There standing in front of me was a male doctor and a female nurse. She held a laptop and walked over to the side of the bed placing it on a monitor stand.
"Hello, Eddward." She gave a smile. "Do you feel any pain? We gave you some pain medicine, so it should be helping."
Painkillers? If this was helping the pain, I'm grateful that I don't have to face the full pain. But I opened my mouth to speak. Only to realize that my mouth was wired shut. Why?
"Mr. Vincent we had to wire your mouth shut, to help heal your broken jaw. I know this might be crazy and insane, but you are very lucky your friend was there to hear you. Now I'm going to tell you a few things about this-"
That's when I stopped listening. A friend? Who could that be? Gil left back to the bar. Who else could it be? Maybe a neighbor. That's the only explanation. When I finally snapped back into reality, the nurse grabbed my arm. I winced.
"Careful Jeanie, in cases like this you don't need to be so straightforward."
"Sorry, Caleb I'll take note of that."
So she is a student? She continued on, sticking a needle into my arm. "Now this should help with the pain. If you feel any nausea, dizziness please press this button. I'll have Grace come and bring you some food." She walked over to the computer and typed in a few things. Then they both said their goodbye and left.
Here I was. All alone. In pain, unsure of how much damage was really done.
I started to tear up. I should have just pressed on with my business and came home. I shouldn't have been so submissive to my workmates. Cause now, Kevin is probably in jail, while I'm here in the hospital. My eyes widened. For how long?
