You Dare Do Anything

I started to got more.. Mopey at school. More than usual anyway, I hated the place but now, I couldn't stand being there.

The only reason I don't drop is that Pumpkin keeps pushing me to stay in school because it's good for me. Like I haven't heard that from all my teachers.

But it was still morning, I didn't have a need to 'involve' myself in school work, nor did I need to dumb myself to my 'friends.' Speak of the Devils.

"Hey Edd." The guy who was leading a small group of my 'friends' was a member of my swim team. I say 'my' because I am the captain. Best damn swimmer and already getting collage offers. Damn I'm good.

"Hey Bradley, what's up?" God, I hate the way I have to speak. But they wouldn't understand my language, heh, but it beats being the beaten.

"We've seen you've been hanging out with that nerd. What's the deal man?"

At this I had to think for a moment. I could hang out with whoever I wanted an not worry about a thing. So I felt no reason to lie to my deal old 'friends'.

"After a short meeting in the woods, I've realized pumpkin isn't as bad as he seems. Fairly interesting as well. Why do you ask Bradley?" I put more emphasis on his name, normally that'll put people in their place. I run this school, and I could do whatever I please. However, I'm not a.. Hooligan as adults would put it. I've still got my manners and my language, and I'd never fully be what my 'friends' want me to be.

But it seemed that simply doing that wasn't enough, he still pressed on. Bring up the fact that he and the other guys had found out something about pumpkin that I should know.

"He's a queer dude. You should really watch your back man. I would hate to see my best friend be brought down by a gay."

I sneered at the way he said best friend. I stood up straighter and uncrossed my arms looking down at him. "Listen closely Bradley, I am but your swim captain and nothing else. Do not consider me your 'best friend' for your own gain." I looked back to the guys who stood behind him and my glare hardened. "And you all listen, you dare do anything to hurt Kevin, then I will be sure to hurt you."

Just then the bell rang, sending people running to home room before the tardy bell rang. But before I was off completely, I turned my head to look at the group, specifically Bradley. "Oh, and I almost forgot. Don't forget that today is weight lifting. Just thought I would remind you." I smirked as I saw Bradley tense up.

Oh yes. Today's practice would be a good one.

Just as predicted, my neutral mood dropped to down right hate. Just to get out of class, I couldn't wait for a assembly. A assembly. Let that sink in before I continue.

When the announcement went off that it was time for the assembly, they called for Jr's and seniors first. I knew what this assembly would be about, they hold it every year, about a month or two into the school year. Mainly about rules, reminders, all that junk. But I guess what'll make it funny is, the schools student council gives the whole speech instead of the teachers. And guess who would be in it?

As our teacher herded us into the auditorium for the assembly. We were allowed, being the upperclassmen, it's pretty cool. However as lucky as today was, all the seats in the back were taken. Not wanting to waste my energy, I sat in the middle of the auditorium on a edge seat. So when it was called to a end, I could hurry out and maybe just ditch.

As the student council made their way onto the stage, and began to sit in the seats set up, I noticed that pumpkin was last. It is strange because he is the president and normally the president make the first address. Nazz was sitting in the correct spot, being the Vice President. Nathanial was first, and he was just treasurer.

Immediately, I was suspicious. Never has the school broken a tradition, even something as little as this. So, I began to look around. Something was up, and it wasn't the teachers. It was something with the students. But nothing so far. So I sat and listened to every painful word that each representative had to say, then it came down to pumpkin.

"Hi everyone, incase you didn't know, I am Kevin Barr, president of the student council.."

I stopped listening, not because- ok that would be a lie but because I heard murmurs coming from behind me. I turned my head slightly and looked behind me to see Bradley and a couple of other guys talking and laughing. Something didn't seem right. I stood up and asked to use the restroom when a teacher came and told me to sit down.

As he was quietly lecturing me about how the assembly was almost over, I looked away towards the guys. What were they thinking? I hardly trust anyone, these assholes are no acceptation.

My eyes widened when I saw Bradley pull out a tomato. No I did not make that up, he was holding a tomato. As he rose his hand behind his head ready to throw it, I pushed past the teacher and to him. I made it as he let go of the tomato, it hit me on my shoulder spattering over my leather jacket.

I glared down at him as the teacher who was lecturing me rushed over and looked at the stain on my jacket, actually adding it up, he motioned for all the boys to follow him. Bradley stared me down, but everyone knows never to try and stare down a shark.
