"But really S. You are so lucky to be going out with Derek Sanders! Seriously. He is one of the most popular and most liked people in the school. I totally wish I was you," my best friend Perry rambled. She had been going on about my love life ever since we met up at the park five minutes ago, and I was starting to get a headache.
"I know Perry, I know. I am so lucky that a guy actually wanted to date me," I said in a joking, self depecrating tone.
"Oh dear. I didn't mean it that way S," Perry said, obviously sincerely, and she pulled me in for a quick hug. "You are amazing and any guy would be lucky to have you."
I pulled away and smiled at her kind gesture, although I doubted what she had said. I wondered constantly about why Derek chose me - I was just a small, known "good" girl who studied too much, but he still stayed anyways.
"Well S, I will see you at the dance. I can't wait for you to see me in my dress," Perry said excitedly as we reached my house. I said goodbye, and as she walked away I stood there on my porch thinking about how I met such a person like Perry Watters.
