Xavier and I left straight after the incident with Derek, making sure to stay far away from him when he was driving, because god knows what he might do to us.

We made it to school early, and when I walked in the door, still wearing Xavier's jacket, people stared at me, their gazes burning holes into my back as I walked by slowly. Before reaching my locker, Nikki stopped me and pulled me aside. I waved a goodbye to Xavier, and he walked away, looking back to ensure I was okay.

"Look September, I still want to be your friend. The other's made their decision without asking me, and I was just as surprised as you were when they rejected you. It's just, well, you might want to check this out," she explained as she handed me her phone. It was on my Facebook profile, which I barely used, and I realized that I had lost at least fifty friends, and any people who didn't unfriend me were posting terrible comments on my page. I felt sick reading the comments, some calling me a slut and others saying how terrible I was. "I don't know how Derek did it, but he has turned all these people against you," she said to me, looking concerned.

"Thanks Nik for sticking around and all. I'll see you later. I think I need some air," I said as I walked, or more like stumbled away. Everyone hated me now and I didn't even know why. I walked out the front doors, the bell for first class not having rang yet, and walked down the sidewalk away from the school that now felt like my personal hell.

I started to run as fast as I could down the sidewalk, the rush of the wind through my long hair making me feel just a bit better. I seen a bridge close by, and decided to take a break there.

I looked over the rail, watching the river below stream by quickly, and wondered what would happen if I would just jump. Would all the hatred, the fear, the pain stop? Would I finally feel free from Derek? Or would I miss the life I had now? Would I miss my mother and Nikki and Xavier, or would it not matter either way?

The thoughts lingered in my brain continually as I watched the water flow quickly, when someone pulled up where I was standing and honked their horn, making my small body jump.

I spun around quickly, gripping the rail tightly, and felt relief when I saw a black mustang with the windows rolled down and the music blaring.

"What are you doing here September?" Xaiver asked me, his eyes squinting from the bright sun. I was surprised that he found me, and I jumped down from the rail I had been standing on.

"The question is, what are you doing here?" I asked him mockingly.

"I seen you leave school and followed you here. You really need to find better ways to escape," he said, opening the passenger door for me. I got in and he made a quick u-turn so he could start driving towards the school.

"What are you doing? I'm not going back there," I said, crossing my arms angrily. "Everybody hates me there."

Xavier then pulled into a random parking lot, and shut the car engine off. "People might be treating you terrible, but you can't throw away your education and life because of them," he explained, looking at me. "You're so smart, and you will fail if you don't go to school. I'll be right by your side to help you September," he assured me with a smile. I nodded my head, finally agreeing to go, and he drove out of the parking lot and back to school.

"By the way, were you thinking of jumping?" he asked me quietly, looking straight ahead at the road. I swallowed the lump in my throat, and quietly said "maybe." He nodded his head, understanding what I was going through, and pulled into the crowded school parking lot.

We both walked into the school, the hallways filled since first period had just ended. I went to my locker to get my books, as did Xavier, and he walked me to my Physics class. We stood by the doorway waiting for the teacher to arrive, and as the bell rang, he whispered something in my ear I wouldn't soon forget.

"I will always catch you when you fall. No matter what."
