- Sara's POV -
We're having a nice family dinner that my mom prepared.
There were laughters, mostly from eomma and Hanna. Occasionally, you'll see my oppa chuckle, but appa just gives out a kind smile.
Everything's almost as it was before eomma's heart attack, except for me.
"By the way, what's with the dull hair? Didn't you like to keep your hair colorful or at least blonde?" Hanna asked. "You look really different with the way you dress and that dark hair. I almost didn't recognise you. Aren't you using your contacts anymore?" She bombarded me with questions.
"I got tired of it." I simply said. I love Hanna, I still do and I missed her a lot. But, seeing Hanna reminds me of my old life. The wild irresponsible side of Sara Young. The part of me I wished never existed.
"No worries babe, you still look amazing, different but good." She assures me.
"Ne (Yes). My daughter is very beautiful but she likes to hide in her baggy clothes, which are mostly trousers and blazers everyday. Not to mention those dark rimmed glasses. I don't know if she's intentionally driving boys away. It's a pity."
Hanna asked, "Uhm speaking of which, did you get a chance to call Jungkook already? Are you friends yet? Lovers?"
I almost choked hearing her say that.
I noticed curious looks from my eomma and Daniel, while my father appears nonchalant.
"Who is it? Do you have a boyfriend I didn't know about honey? You know I would be really happy if you do." My mom said sweetly.
"Eomma, don't listen to Hanna. I don't have time for a boyfriend." I turned to face Hanna who's sitting beside me. "And I didn't call him. I don't have any intention of calling him."
"Wae andwae (Why not)? The man of your dreams, main vocalist of Bangtan, gave you his number and you didn't call him? Are you out of your mind?" Hanna said with utter disbelief in her voice.
"Jinjja? The boy in your posters, Sara? You should call him. Give me the number and I'll dial it for you." My eomma.
"There are no more posters mom. And Hanna, I got over my addiction with BTS and Jungkook. I don't listen to them anymore."
I saw eomma shaking her head. My father and Daniel both frowning.
"What she's saying is that she doesn't listen to anything anymore. Even before she moved out, it's been awfully quiet in the house, specially in her room since what happened happened." My eomma looking disappointed.
My father stood up, "I'll have coffee in the den, would you like to join me Daniel?"
My brother quickly stood up, kissed eomma on her cheeks and left.
I didn't even realize they already finished their meal, when I've been playing with my food for almost an hour.
I decided it's time for me to leave.
"Hanna, it was really nice seeing you again. Call me and we should catch up, but for now, I'm really tired and I still have tons of paper work waiting for me." I walked towards my mother and kissed her cheeks. "Saranghaeyo eomma."
With that, I left the house and drove away.
- Hanna's POV -
"What's going on with Sara?" I asked while I watch her leave.
Looking back at auntie, I see her worried look.
"Sara has changed a lot since I had a heart attack. I think she blames herself for what happened and it doesn't help that her father and brother feels the same way." She explained.
"Do you blame her, auntie?" I can't help but ask.
"I never did. You know how much I love Sara and I hate seeing her like this. Her life revolves around her work and me. It's like she doesn't exist beyond that. My lovely daughter, who's so full of life and energy is gone. Honestly, I don't want her to move out, but I hate seeing her being treated coldly by her own father and brother, like she's been holding her breath and can't be herself in her own home. I thought things would change once she gets her own place. That she would find the freedom she needs and be her old self again, but that didn't happen. If anything, her hours at the office just got longer. She would go home to sleep and rest then wake up to work even during weekends. That's why I usually think of reasons to have her come over on weekends, just so she won't go and spend her weekends at work."
"So Sara has been killing herself working like a madwoman just to prove herself worthy to uncle and Daniel." I never realised that this is how things would work out. I know when I left that she has changed a lot, but I honestly thought that it's only a matter of time before she goes back to her old bubbly self.
"That's what she's doing and she's done a lot. I know that deep down her father is proud of what she's done, but he's just too proud to admit to his faults. He didn't realise it's destroying his own daughter."
Looking at auntie, it seems she has aged a lot with all her worries about Sara. I can't exactly blame her. I want my old bestie back. That girl earlier is a shell, she's hollow. She's not the Sara I grew up with.
Auntie continued, "You have to help me, Hanna. I know you love her like your own sister. Help me. Help me bring my daughter back. Help me take her out of the shell she put herself in." She pleaded.
"I'll see what I can do, auntie. I want the old Sara too."
