Fast forward to Summer 2019
(Yes, I know it's still January 2019, let's just pretend.)
"Y/n, can you pass me the brush set!" Kat said. One of my good friends, but also my boss.
"Hold on! I'm almost done with my client."
"Hurry up, the shoot would've been finished already if you didn't show up late." She said.
Sheesh. Working as a makeup artist can be so stressful sometimes.
Yes you heard correctly. I am now a makeup artist. Based in Los Angeles. I've worn makeup for a while now and was told that I should become a makeup artist.
When I was younger I was wanted to live in Los Angeles after graduating in San Diego.
But things took a turn when I lived in South Korea for a few months.
I can't remember exactly how long ago I left Korea, but it's been pretty long. Now I'm a makeup artist for People in the entertainment industry.
I don't usually have famous clients but only once in a while.
I finally finish up on my first client of the day. Now a lot more to go.
Lunch break
"Here's your food! Enjoy!" Said the waiter.
"Hey, y/n, I heard you used to live in Korea for some time, is that correct?" Said Kat.
"Yeah, why?" I said.
"Oh well, today we have clients that we have never worked with before." She said.
"Really, who?"
"I cant recall their name but it's a kpop group and many groups are coming today. I think their name is NTC? No, that can't be right.... maybe they're called MCT? No... well whatever. We also have another group coming... Oh! Their name is SEVENTEEN and one more group... I think they're called.... Iko-"
"Okay I get it!" I shouted while closing my ears. "Why are kpop groups coming to LA?" I asked.
"They're coming for KCON... oh shoot we're about to be late, let's go back to the studio." She grabbed my hand and dragged me.
At the makeup studio
"Hello, yes this is her speaking. Uh huh. Yeah. Okay great. Yeah just come inside, me and my artists are ready. Thanks." Kat said while on the phone. "Get ready the idols are coming in!" She shouted. "I'll assign everyone to an idol."
I was sitting at my vanity, scrolling on my phone.
"Omg. Who's ready for KCON?! I can't wait to meet IKON! And also SEVENTEEN and NCT!"
A tweet I read.
Who are they? Can't believe I lived in South Korea for a couple of months and didn't bother to listen to KPOP after I left. Oh well.
I kept on scrolling on my phone until I felt a tap on my shoulder.
I turned around in my seat, but was facing someone's stomach. I looked up to see... Wait I can't recognize who he is, but he looks very familiar.
I stood up and shook his hand.
"Hi, nice to meet you I'm y-" He cut me off.
"Y/n?! Hey it's me Mingyu! Wow, who would've known we would see each other again?!" He smiled while happily shaking my hand. We both took a seat.
Mingyu? I thought to myself. Who's Mingyu? I sat there for a few seconds trying to remember who he was. How could I know this guy? He's very handsome and very tall.
He began waving his hand in my face.
"Hello?" He said.
"Oh sorry. I just can't recall who you are." I said.
"Well, I'm pretty sure you never liked me. Remember? We worked at that restaurant one time? I was kinda mean to you."
"Nope, still don't remember." I said.
"Please don't get mad but I was so ignorant back then. I've changed now. I'm so sorry for what ive done to you y/n." He said while bowing.
"It's okay, Whatever you did to me. But I still can't remember who exactly you are. What happened between us?" I asked.
"Well, Long story. The reason I was so mean to you was because the first day I started working at the restaurant, me and my girlfriend - ex, I mean, Nayoung had broken up that day. When you introduced your self and sat at my table, Nayoung saw that and took it the wrong way. She thought we had a thing and never listened to me after she saw us together. I was so angry and felt it was your fault for what happened between us. So I tried my best to be mean to you and even seeked revenge by trapping you in that wooden cabin during that Jeju trip, but that's another story. So yeah. Does all of that ring a bell." He said.
"Ohh. Mingyu! You were that one cold guy at the restaurant... Wait a minute. You were the one who trapped me in the cabin?!?" I shouted.
"Uhhh gotta go." He quickly sat up but I sat him down.
"Forget the past. I'm not mad anymore. Let's just work on your makeup?"
"Oh yeah yeah. Let's do that."
10 mins into doing his makeup I noticed that he kept staring at me. Whenever I do a clients makeup, they scroll on their phones or watch tv. But he did neither. He then suddenly said something.
"Hey, y/n, do you have a KPOP group that you listen to?" He said curiously.
"Uhhh no. Why?"
"Have you heard of NCT and IKON?" He asked.
"Yeah, I've heard of them for the first time today."
"What?! You barely heard of them today?" He said with a shocked tone.
"Yes! What's the problem? By the way how in the world did you get into KPOP?" I said.
"Don't change the subject. So you're telling me that you don't know who the NCT and IKON members are?"
"No I don't. Why are you asking me all of this?" I said while putting my hand on my hip.
"Ugh never mind. You'll see." He said with a smirk.
"You're free to go. Your makeup is done." I said while cleaning my brushes.
"Wait before I go. I have backstage passes for you. I was told we had to give these to our makeup artist in return. Never did I know it would be you!"
The pass said:
KCON LA 2019 Backstage pass
To meet:
IKON
NCT
"Oh wow. Thank you so much." I said while reading it.
"Sadly, me and my members won't make it to backstage. It was nice talking to you. See you from on stage!" He said while walking out.
Wait why was he smirking when he said "you'll see" about IKON and NCT?
