A ray of sunlight slipped through the window, landing gently across my face and pulling me from sleep. I blinked a few times before finally sitting up, rubbing the last traces of sleep from my eyes.
After getting out of bed, I went to the restroom to brush my teeth and comb my hair. As I stood in front of the mirror, I noticed how long my hair had gotten—it now reached my lower back, nearly brushing against the top of my hips. I ran my fingers through it with a quiet sigh before finishing up and heading down the hall.
I stopped in front of Sasuke's door and knocked gently. Peeking inside, I saw him finishing putting on his shirt.
"I'm going to make breakfast. Want anything?" I asked casually.
"Hn... anything is fine," he replied in that usual cool tone of his.
With that, I turned and made my way to the kitchen. I prepared a simple breakfast: rice and a neatly folded omelet for each of us.
"Sasuke, food's ready!" I called out.
I heard his footsteps in the hallway a few moments later. He entered the dining room, quiet as always, and took a seat. I served our plates and joined him at the table.
[Time Skip: At the Academy]
When we arrived at the classroom, Sasuke took his usual spot—second row, all the way next to the window. I sat beside him silently. The classroom buzzed with idle chatter until the door suddenly burst open with a loud thud.
Ino and Sakura came charging in, shoving past each other to be the first through the doorway. The two immediately began arguing about who arrived first, and soon enough, all the fangirls were at it—bickering, yelling, trying to push their way toward Sasuke.
I rolled my eyes in irritation.
Sakura managed to shove Naruto out of the way, nearly knocking him into a desk. She turned to Sasuke with a bright, fake smile.
"Sasuke-kun, can I sit next to you?" she asked sweetly.
Sasuke didn't respond at first. Instead, he glanced sideways at me. Sakura followed his gaze and, when she realized I was already sitting beside him, her expression shifted into a bitter scowl.
"Move! Can't you see Sasuke-kun doesn't want to sit next to you?" she screeched.
I met her glare calmly. "And what makes you think he'd rather sit next to a loud, annoying fangirl?" I asked coolly, my voice dripping with venom.
"You think you're good enough for Sasuke-kun? Ha!" Sakura shouted. "You think you can keep him to yourself, but you're wrong—he's mine!"
I stared at her, momentarily stunned. Was she seriously suggesting I was dating my brother?
I glanced at Sasuke, who now seemed oddly intrigued by the idea. He turned to me and gave me a look—an unspoken message. Play along.
I frowned slightly in confusion, but nodded.
"Hn. She has a way better chance than you ever will," Sasuke said without even looking at Sakura.
Her eyes widened in disbelief, and for a second, she looked like she might cry. But then she turned to me, face red with rage, and stomped away. The other fangirls followed her lead, pouting and muttering as they returned to their seats.
I leaned toward Sasuke and whispered, "Why are we pretending to date? That's kind of weird."
"Hn. If the fanboys and fangirls think we're together, they'll leave us alone," he replied.
"Oh. And how long do you plan to keep this up? They'll get suspicious eventually. We don't even act like a couple."
"If they do, we'll hug or hold hands in front of them," he said simply.
