Beep. Beep. Beep.

That's all I heard—the sound that rudely interrupted my deep sleep. I groaned as I sat up, reaching over to turn off the alarm clock. The time read 6:10 a.m.

Class didn't start until 7:45 a.m., but I always woke up early. My older brother Sasuke—older by just two minutes—and I liked to get to class early and enjoy the silence before the fangirls and fanboys showed up.

Yes, you read that right. I have fanboys. Just like Sasuke has fangirls. It's annoying, really. They all crowd around our seats the moment class starts. The only time we get true peace is either at home or in the classroom before anyone else arrives.

I climbed out of bed and got dressed.

My top had the Uchiha symbol on the back, though you couldn't really see it with how long my hair was. After checking the time again, I figured it was about time to see if Sasuke was up.

I left my room, heading down the hall and turning left. Once I reached his door, I knocked and waited.

A few seconds passed before I heard footsteps, and then the door creaked open. Sasuke stood there, still looking half-asleep.

"I'll be down in a second. I have to get changed," he muttered.

"Okay. I'll make your favorite," I replied, turning and heading toward the kitchen.

I pulled out the ingredients for rice balls with tomato sauce—his favorite—and got to work. After finishing, I plated three rice balls for each of us and set them on the table.

Just as I finished setting the plates down, Sasuke entered the dining room and sat in the chair across from me.

"Itadakimasu," we both said in unison before digging in.

I took our plates to the sink and washed them. When I looked at the clock again, it read 6:40 a.m. By the time we walked to the academy, we'd probably arrive around 6:57.

Sasuke and I went to the front door and slipped on our ninja sandals. His stopped at the ankles. Mine? They reached up to my thighs. Once I was done, I looked up and saw Sasuke waiting patiently with his hand outstretched.

I took it, letting him pull me to my feet.

We left the house, locking the door behind us, and began our walk to the Ninja Academy. We were looking forward to the silence we'd have for the next 40 minutes.

Once we arrived at our classroom, we took our usual seats in the second row—close to the wall. Sasuke sat next to the window, and I sat beside him.

"Thanks for cooking," he said suddenly.

I turned my head and looked at him for a moment. "You don't need to thank me, Sasuke. I would've done it even if you didn't want me to. You're my brother, after all."

I gave him a small smile.

"Older brother," Sasuke added with a smug side glance.

That wiped the smile right off my face. "Only by two minutes," I shot back.

"I'm still older, though," he said, his smirk widening.

"You know what? You can starve! I'm not cooking for you anymore!"

"Didn't you just say you'd cook for me even if I didn't ask?" Sasuke asked smugly.

"I take it back. You just had to ruin the moment, didn't you?"

"I was just pointing out the facts. I'm older."

"That has nothing to do with whether I cook for you or not."
