A smile crept up on my face as I felt Simons gaze on me. The room was still crowded with people as some were on their phones and others playing a game. It was the weekend so no one had other plans besides dad that had to leave to catch up on some work he had missed.
"You have" Simon accused and I looked over, giving him a cheeky smile.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I told him and bit the inside of my cheek as my hand fidgeted with Simon's phone under the covers. He narrowed his eyes on my cheek as it made a small dent in my cheek when I bit it. The sides of his mouth jerked up as he ripped the covers off me to reveal my hand with his phone in it. I let out a shriek and quickly hid my hand behind my pillow my back was resting on.
"I knew it you little-" He reacher over me and grabbed my arm making me laugh as I tried to hold it back but failed miserably as he got hold of the phone with ease and ripped it out of my grip. I pouted a little while he gave me a winning smile.
"Noo gives me attention" I pleaded as I reached for his phone.
"I am!" He argued but looked back down to his phone "What are you talking about"
"No you're giving you're phone attention and since I can't leave bed yet you gotta entertain me"
"There's a whole room filled with people, you're aware of that right? All their for you" He gestured around the half-filled room with people as most were on their phones or talking to each other. Nichole and Adam had found Luke and was talking gossip that was going around the school while Noah was laying on a chair beside them, half listening while looking at his phone.
"But they are doing stuff"
Rolling his eyes he sat down beside me in bed as I scooted over to give him some space and together we sat and watch youtube, sharing one earphone each until lunch rolled around. No one wanted to drive and get something so they had bought food from the cafeteria at the hospital.
When we all had eaten Andrew walked up to me.
"I'm leaving. Mom needs help at home to babysit the twins but I'll be back tomorrow or something" He said and gave me a weak smile. I smiled back and nodded even if I looked him in the eye for extra long as to wonder why his mood was the way it was. Ever since I woke up I've felt like Andrew's been quiet and held back. Almost like he's sad. I understand where it would come from because he is partly the reason why I'm here but I don't blame him for anything.
I didn't say anything to him besides a goodbye and watched as he left the room.
Simon had to leave along with Nichole so the rest of us sat around and talked about Halloween as it was soon here.
"We need to get new spider webs and pumpkins"
"Oh I want to carve a pumpkin," I said as pumpkins were brought up"
"Why it's so much work" Noah argued.
"What if we all did it. You could use the pumpkins as decor for your party" I said which made them think about it. Every year my brothers always throw big parties since we have the money and the house for it and dad that really don't care that much if we're just being safe.
"Maybe."
"Oh come on it's so much more fun doing it with others!"
"Fine! We'll carve pumpkins" Noah flew his hands up at my stubbornness which I learned back to in my hospital bed with a satisfied smile.
"So the party. Am I invited?" I asked and looked over all of my brothers faces to catch their reactions. Luke seemed to have his thoughts on other stuff as he was looking down towards the floor and fidgeting with a strand of tape while my other brothers looked grim.
