"Are you done or what?" Andrew asked from my bed, scrolling through his phone like he had been doing for the past fifteen minutes.
I looked through my second box of clothing now and at this point, I didn't care if I was throwing it everywhere. "I really can't find the shirt, what if it's gone?" I groaned into a pair of shorts and threw them over my shoulder.
I could hear Andrew moving around in my bed and came over. I could feel his tall figure behind me "Alright what do you need" He asked and squatted down next to me.
"My white shirt"
"You gotta be a bit more clear than that"
"The one with that print on it"
"Lara why don't you just take another shirt" He looked around the pile of clothes around us and picked up a black long sleeve shirt. He threw it at me "Here use that one"
"But I wear that one all the time""So?"
"So it's like too casual"
"Oh shut up put it on, it doesn't matter," He said and as I was about to object again he gave me a pointed look and put his hand over my mouth "I'm hungry and it'll look great on you"
I smiled in his hand from his compliment and licked his hand. He jerked his hand away from me and shook his hand. "You ma'am is disgusting," He said and shook his head and cleaned his hand off on his shirt. And I'm the disgusting one. I grinned and got up with my black shirt in my hand. Walking up the little steps to the elevated part of my room, I walked into my bathroom and looked over myself again. Since this was a bit more formal I had put in the effort to get out my flattering iron and put on the mascara that Nicole gave to me once after we had done a performance with school and everyone was wearing makeup, even a couple of guys.
"Lara you have the lashes of a guy and you would look so good with mascara" She had told me.
"The lashes of a guy?"
"Yes, why is it that all the boys get the good lashes, it's unfair" She looked into the mirror backstage as she held up an eyelash curler to her face. "But since you're so blonde you can't really see them and your eyes really pop with some mascara on them" I looked into the mirror as she was talking, looking at my face full of makeup and I have to admit that I felt pretty. The problem is that I don't want to take the time in the morning to do it and that way have more time for sleeping and eating.
"You look beautiful," Andrew said from the door, leaning against the door frame. I smiled at my mirrored self and glanced over at him in the mirror. He had a smile on his face and jerked his head to the side, signaling to get going.
As we walked down the stairs I prayed that none of my brothers were downstairs. It still felt odd walking around in the new house, still felt like it wasn't quite real. I wasn't complaining about it though. I was slowly getting used to it and the house and location did help a lot and thank god for Clara who had a good eye for interior design.
"We're going out for a bit" I announced to dad who was thankfully alone in the kitchen.
Dad looked up from his task of shredding cheese "Where are you going?" He asked, looking between me and Andrew.
I looked up at Andrew for answers "I don't know really" I said and Andrew gave me a smile. He looked over at dad.
"It's a surprise" He explained.
Dad gave a nod and smiled back at him like he felt completely safe with him bringing me to an unknown place.
"Pizza will be done in maybe two hours but if you're not back by then, then we'll try to save some for you"
