Alex's P.O.V

I could tell Echo was scared. Through the whole journey I could feel the fear coming off of him in waves.

He had been sheltered since he was a child, whether it was for his own safety or his parents reputation, I wasn't sure. The real world was a scary place, and he was slowly figuring that out.

I risked taking my eyes off the road to glance at the beauty beside me. His head was against the window and his to big hoodie hung off his lithe figure.

"Echo?" I got a small "mhm?" in response as he looked up with hooded eyes. It took me a second to respond once I pulled my gaze away from his orbs.

"We're going to pull over soon, get some rest. Just don't fall asleep for a while" He just yawned with a nod as I pulled into a small motel. It wasn't the
nicest, but it would do.

I opened the door, Echo grasping my hand lightly, to see the lights flickering. The lobby was deserted and I could tell Echo was unsettled. I grabbed his hand tighter and we kept walking.

Chairs were tipped over and couches were shredded. Trash littered the floor.
The whole building seemed vacant, but the neon sign above the desk glowed brightly.

The floorboard cracked behind me and I turned around just as an arrow shot past my face.

Then all hell broke loose.

Echo's P.O.V

It was chaos. Alex shielded me with his body as screams and shouts could be heard above. More arrows whipped through the air, ruffling my hair.

Alex pulled me behind a tipped table and I scooted closer to him. The whole situation seemed oddly familiar, and I remembered the wreckage our car had become just days before.

After several minutes of nothing but warfare, all the lights went out and silence fell. It was as if neither side knew what was going to happen next. My heard beat with anticipation as Alex moved me closer to him.

"Now, now. Is that any way to treat our guests?." A feminine chuckle bounced off the balcony as the lights turned back on. A women dressed in black from head to toe bounded down the stairs.

She glanced around, grey eyes settling on us. Her face broke into a smile, not dripping in malicious intent, but a genuine, kind smile. I flinched as she stepped towards us, but Alex seemed to know exactly who see was.

"Callix?"

The women, Callix, seemed to recognize him immediately. She pulled down her hood, letting blue hair fall down her shoulder. I could see tears well in her eyes as she spoke.

"Alex?"

He looked horrified. "Y-you can't- you"
I'd never seen Alex speechless before.

"You're dead."

The women began to cry, although it was light. Alex stood slowly, as if he would scare me or Callix.

"How are you-" Alive? How did he know her?

"Echo?" I looked up, tearing my gaze away from Callix.

"This is Callix, my sister."
