Violet shook Klaus, Beatrice, Michelle, and Sunny up, shouting, "Land!"

Klaus woke up to Violet's incessant yelling, slightly annoyed. But then he saw Briny Beach.

"What are we doing back here?" he whispered.

As the Baudelaires (and Michelle) stepped onto Briny Beach the third time since their parents died, their eyes could hardly resist spilling tears.

Suddenly, a strange noise protruded out of the silence.

Cough. Cough. Cough

"Gack!" Beatrice shouted, which may have meant, "Look at that mysterious figure emerging from the fog!"

"Missta Poe?" Sunny said.

Violet and Klaus exchanged wary glances. Didn't he die in the Denouement Fire?

Unless Vice Principal Nero got him out, which was extremely unlikely, considering the extent of his IQ.

But as the figure emerged, the Baudelaires, and Michelle, soon realized that the figure wasn't Mr. Poe. The figure didn't even relatively look like a Mr. Poe.

In fact, the figure was a woman.

Her blond hair was tied up in a fancy updo, and her tall form was tied to a small tree which she had apparently pulled from the ground.

"Jacquelyn?"
