For a minute, all was silent. Yuta tried to drag his focus away from the male in front of him and Sicheng's heart thumped against his rib cage.
Finally, Sicheng opened his mouth to speak.
"Living in the Crescent...it's not really as good as everyone says..."
Yuta's heart sank as he realised why Sicheng was saying this. He'd heard the phone call. He was trying to make him feel better.
"Yeah, it's pretty big and whatever, but...well...my house is nothing like yours. Everything is neat and perfect and spotless. They're no pictures of my family on the walls and I'm not even allowed posters in my room. We've lived there for years, but to anyone who didn't know better, it would look like we'd just moved in."
Yuta shrugged, not meeting Sicheng in the eyes.
"Just...just don't tell anyone okay?" He mumbled.
Sicheng's eyes softened, becoming pools of liquid honey, "I wasn't going to."
~~~
"So...you can sleep here, I guess. Toilet's just down the hall. If you're hungry or...or thirsty or whatever, help yourself, the kitchen's downstairs. Just come get me if you need anything," Yuta said before turning out the doorway. Before he could disappear down the creaky stairs, Sicheng grabbed his wrist.
"Where are you sleeping?" He asked.
"The...the c-couch," Yuta lies, two wheels of pink glowing in his cheeks.
I didn't see a couch...
"But won't that be uncomfortable? And you'll wake up with a bad back."
Where are you going with this Dong Sicheng?
"I don't mind," shrugged Yuta.
Sicheng mouth was chattering away before his brain could even process what was happening.
Please don't say any dumb shit...
"We should sleep together!" He blurted.
Oh my God, kill me now...
Both Yuta and Sicheng's eyes turned to the size of tennis balls. For one whole minute, Sicheng could of sworn on his love for Yuta that time stopped. As if vines had burst from the floorboards and girded him to the spot, he felt weighed down and frozen to the spot.
When his tongue finally stopped feeling like a wet ham in his mouth, Sicheng finally gobbled out an explanation.
"No...I'm sorry, I-I. I didn't mean...s-sleep...not like that...I would n-never...I'm s-sorry-" Sicheng felt tears prick in the corner of his eyes as his skin paled.
Yuta wasn't quiet sure what was going on. First, Sicheng had said they should sleep together, which had been weird enough. But by the widening of his eyes, it was clear to see that he had NOT meant to say that. And then it had become quite funny to Yuta. It would've been funny if it had been any other friend who'd said it. Yuta probably would've come out with a short, quippy retort, something like 'Dude, I know we're close but we're not that close', like the time Yukhei had actually tripped over his own laces and landed on top of Yuta. And while the situation was pretty funny, seeing Sicheng's bottom lip quiver and his eyes gloss over with tears was the opposite of funny.
"N-no no no don't cry!" Yuta gasped, "I totally get what you mean! Besides, someone needs to be with you because of your head. What if it starts bleeding in the night? That's a great idea!"
Sicheng sniffled slightly, dabbing at his eyes. He'd completely forgotten about his head. It hadn't mattered at all, not compared to staying over at Nakamato Yuta's overnight.
And if it hand been anyone else, anyone at all, Yuta probably would've called them a baby for crying so easily. But something was different about Sicheng. Every bone in Yuta's body told him to protect Sicheng.
~~~
And that was Nakamoto Yuta woke up with his face three centimetres away from somebody else's face. A face with plump, pink lips and long, fluttering eyelashes.
It was weird, weird that this person looked so...appealing? So...attractive? So...delicate? The way their pretty lips parted, breathing out the tiniest puffs of breath that ghosted along Yuta's cheek like a warm hand. And somehow, the light spilling through Yuta curtain-less windows managed to strike this person's face at the exact right spot. It was if every single skin cell on their body hand been hand-crafted from liquid gold.
And when Yuta moved ever so slightly closer...not too close, mind you...he loved how those inky black eyelashes tickled his cheek. And he loved how those soft chocolate locks fell into Yuta's own, becoming a whole new colour completely. But do you know what was ever better than that? When Yuta's face crept millimetres forward and his nose brushed against the other person's: tiny little Eskimo kisses.
Oh, but do you know what was best of all? When Yuta lips met the other person's. They were soft but chapped and Yuta could feel the blood pumping through the thin layer of skin. It felt so different to kiss lips that were so...alive. Lips that were completely untouched. Lips that weren't exfoliated until they bled with every moment, lips that weren't caked in layer after layer of tacky lipstick. Lips that tasted just like they felt; sweeter than honey and richer than chocolate.
And Yuta decided there and then that he only like one type of lips; the type of lips that belonged to Dong Sicheng.
