Jungwoo could throttle himself at this moment.
For a nanosecond, he understands his father. He understands the utmost hate he has for his being. And then he reminds himself not to junk like that, not to associate himself with such a pig.
He's lying on his back, sipping on his second glass of whatever Taeho had left over in the fridge. It tastes like absolute ass but after it scorches his throat, it tastes good. It feels good.
I'm the background, he hears the words 'I will find you...and I will kill you'
He used to find that hot in a weird way. The way his voice was so damn ruthless and determined. And there was the spark of danger mixed into it that simply just melted Jungwoo from the inside out.
And now when Jungwoo hears those words, all he think is:'aite bro, what time what place?'
He laughs at his own humour.
And that's because he really does what to shrivel up and die at that moment because he quite literally let his soulmate slip through his fingers. He can still feel his thumb grazing the soulmark, fingers subtly entertained with his.
He hears wood this against plaster, further deepening the dent in the wall that began to form when Taeho started coming home drunk. He turns around and Taeho is standing there.
"Hey!" He beams.
Taeho says nothing and does nothing except walk over to the fridge, a path he has taken on many days, rip the door open and pull out a beer. He snaps off the lid with his teeth, something he's learnt to do with experience (another thing Jungwoo finds hot), and takes a swig as he sits next to his boyfriend.
Slowly, Taeho wraps a firm arm around Jungwoo's shoulders. Swiftly, without even knowing it, Jungwoo squeezes into his side and dips his head into the crook of his neck like they've been doing this every single days of their lives. It's been months since they've been like this, cute and cuddly like a normal couple, but it's all to easily to fall back into the same routine.
Taeho sticks on alcohol and Jungwoo does too and he thinks, hey, maybe it's not too bad to get drunk once in a while. Then he remembers his latest drinking fiasco (only three nights ago. It ended up with a soulmark on his wrist the next morning in case you forgot), and decided to put his glass on the floor - not without taking one last swig.
Now the soulmark thing is in his brain again. But he feels less guilty because - let's not delude ourselves anymore - Taeho's been cheating too. Many nights, many different girls. Now Jungwoo has a soulmate. He thinks that equals out pretty well.
"You know, it's been a while since we've done this," Taeho murmurs.
His voice is deep and smooth. Not as good as Jungwoo's soulmate's voice (whoever his soulmate is), but good enough.
Jungwoo nods in agreement.
"And you know...it's been a while since we've done...it."
Jungwoo looks up, making eye contact with the man in a way he hasn't in what feels like forever.
"It?"
Taeho's lips are fixed to his all of a sudden. His hands are everywhere, his eyes everywhere, mouth everywhere. Jungwoo's eyes roll into the back of his head.
And when it's time for that moment...the moment...Jungwoo snaps out of it.
"W-wait..."
Taeho pauses, growling in annoyance, "What?"
"You...you need to use one," Jungwoo's cheeks turn pink as he says the words.
"You mean a condom?" Taeho's hands are against his hips anymore, they're wrapped around his throat, not enough pressure to burden his breathing but there all the same, "Why? Why would I need a condom when you've only slept with me?"
That's a lie.
But disgust shines through Jungwoo's guilt.
Yeah, and who have you slept with? Who have you been fucking when you're not here with me?
Jungwoo doesn't reply. He seals his mouth shut and tries to block everything out as Taeho does exactly what he wants to do.

"One more time. Explain what happened just one. More. Time."
"Come on, Bri-"
"It's Brian," Brian snaps back at his soulmate through gritted teeth.
"Okay, Brian. I've been through this four times already. Jungwoo had a panic attack in the middle of the hall when I told him I wasn't his soulmate. Some guy just ran up to him and started taking care of him. I had no idea what to do so I just stood there and watched. The guy knelt down next to Jungwoo, touched his wrist and then ran away from some reason," Jae leaned back precariously in his chair, throwing a flaming hot Cheeto in the air and catching in his mouth.
"Fuck. Fuck! FUCK! FUCK!" Brian screams, side-kicking three chairs across the empty classroom.
"Woah, dude, calm down-"
"Shut up! Just shut up for a second," Brian whips out his phone, pressing a number in his contacts.
"Rosemary? I'm sorry, I fucked up. Fine, yep, sorry, I'll mind my language," Brian rolled his eyes.
Jae's heart swooned at the boy talking so gently to whoever was on the other line. He could seem so menacing and ruthless, but he was a big teddy bear on the inside.
"Jungwoo and Yukhei already met, I couldn't stop it. No, no he doesn't know. Yukhei? Yeah. Yeah, he knows. I'm so sorry. No. No it's not alright, he means so much to you and he means a lot to me-"
Brian stopped abruptly, as if he was just noticing Jae's presence. He side-eyes his soulmate who grinned goofily in response. Brian sighed.
"I'll come see you this afternoon."
With that, the teenager left the room.
"Brian? Brian, wait? Gah!" Jae swore loudly as he leaned just a bit too far back, colliding with the floor.
When he ran out into the corridor, a thick stream of people were making their way to their lockers or their next classes. Brian was gone.
