8. The traditional meal: Iroh's kindness

Aang pov

I rode my air scooter in the direction of the mountain where Sokka and katara went but I couldn't find them anywhere. Am I too late? Did Zuko get to them first? I kept searching but found no trace of them. I went farther until I found Bato, he was setting up camp for the night. "Aang what are you doing here?" He asked me in shock. "I'm looking for Sokka and katara, please tell me they are with you!" He shook his head, "I'm afraid not, they left to return to you hours ago." Oh no, where could they be? I thanked Bato and took off back to the abbey, I heard Bato yelling at me but I ignored him. I have to find katara and Sokka!

When I got back to the abbey I saw zuko and a girl on a large creature. They are looking for me but where is katara and sokka? I don't even see zuko's uncle..

I heard zuko asking the girl where I was so I flew down and landed in front of them. "I'm right here! Now where are my friends?! What did you do to them?" I raised my staff to attack.
Zuko got off the beast and walked to me in a fighting stance.

Zuko POV

I stood in front of aang, the avatar, my enemy, the boy I was supposed to join in the future. I couldn't believe it, how am I supposed to get along and join the one boy I'm supposed to capture and give to the most ruthless man in the world. Am I supposed to keep going after him? What happens to my future If I do capture him? I think I need to have one more conversation with aunt wu. For now I have to try to capture him like always.

"Your friends are on my ship as we speak, they can't move until the shirshu poison wears off. However it doesn't matter if it wears off, they can't escape. If you want to save them your going to have to take them from me, or of course you could join them and let yourself be captured." He looked scared but determined, "If I go with you will you release them?" I smirked, "of course not, they will stay right where they are. They will remain in my possession until the day I hand you to my father and he does whatever he wants to do with you. Then I might release them, I might not though, I could always use a girl in my kitchen and a boy to clean my ship."

Aang growled angrily and attacked me, I think he really is in love with her, that's a big problem. We fought for a while and it seemed to be going nowhere, we were to evenly matched. Every time I thought I had him he managed to evade me, I could tell he was getting tired so I decided to provoke him with a bluff. I threw a few fire kicks and punches at him until I had him backing into a corner.

I took my chance when he held his staff with both hands as a shield and I grabbed the staff and used it to push him against the wall. "How about we end this fast? I'd like to get back to my ship and have some fun with that water tribe peasant, maybe I'll make her my lover, she would make an excellent slave." I knew this would make him angry, I didn't mean it of course but he doesn't know that.

His blood boiled and he got furious but it wasn't enough to trigger the avatar state. He struggled to get away from me but I was stronger. "Leave katara alone! Please!" He was getting desperate, "I can't do that, I want her. If you really want to save her you will join us." That part wasn't a lie, I really do want her.

He took a deep breath and blew as much air as he could to push me off of him and the fighting continued. This time he fought with more ferocity, his attacks were more precise and powerful. I gathered all my strength and launched a series of my most powerful fire bending attacks until I had him running away.
This victory is mine! I will capture him! However I still don't know what to do with him... will this destroy the future? Or will I be able to keep my honor and katara? Is it possible to have it all? My throne, my family's love, my nation, and the girl of my dreams? Will capturing him fix everything?
