With keeping track of the days going by with cuts on a tree, we have been here at our new camp for sixteen days. Beth suggested the idea and everyone else agreed. Turns out, she did the same thing back at the store. We added the tallies up to figure out it's been about thirty-five days since the end of the world began.
With us not being in the city anymore, we don't really have easy access to more food. That being said, Carl was mapping out a route for us to use to get back in there. We need more food. We've already decided that Carl and I were going to go while Matt stayed and watched after his family and Beth. We are going in the morning, he wants to go as soon as possible and get back before sundown, so we're leaving before sunrise. Yay.
I just stared out of the window while Carl drove. We came back into the city through some of the back roads. We had decided that instead of us going back to the store, we would just go break into some apartments and break in. That way, we won't have to go so far into the city and risk getting trapped.
He pulled over, a few streets over from our planned location to go looting. He turned off the car, "We're walking from here."
"I know." I followed him in getting out, grabbing my gear from the back seat. We made our way to the building, it being about one or two blocks away.
We started on the closest door to the left on the ground floor, the one closest to us. We stopped right in front of the door. I looked up to him, "How should we go about this? Should we knock?"
He looked down at me with a look of confusion, "What?"
"Knock? In case there's someone or something in there?"
"How about we just kick it down? It's probably locked." He took a step back and went to raise his leg to kick the door when it opened, a man holding a shotgun pointed at Carl on the other side of it.
