Casey's heart pounded in his chest as his leg bounced up and down anxiously. He was sat in the waiting room of the hospital, waiting for new about his boyfriend. After Casey had called the ambulance, he called Jace's mum as well as Finn and Alex.
It seemed like forever to Casey before Jace's mum, Kelly, practically ran over to Casey. Finn and Alex came in a few minutes later.
"Have they told you anything?" Kelly asked. She had obvious tear lines down her normally rosy cheeks.
"Nothing yet.." Casey said. He put his head in his hands. "This is all my fault."
"No no no! It's not your fault, Casey," Kelly reassured. "You didn't mean for him to fall."
Casey sighed. Despite Kelly's reassuring words, Casey couldn't help but think that the reason Jace was in the hospital was his fault.
After about thirty or so minutes a nurse came into the waiting room. "Is anyone here for Jace Li?" She asked. Casey, Finn, Alex and Kelly stood up.
"Is he okay?!" Casey asked worriedly.
"He is stable, but he is also unconscious. We don't know when he'll wake up." The nurse told them. "We are running some tests to make sure that no internal organs are injured. From the way he landed when he fell, we can never be too sure."
"Are we able to go see him?" Kelly asked.
The nurse nodded. "He is in room 167. There might be some doctors coming in and out of the room for a while."
"Thank you."
They made their way to Jace's hospital room and entered. There were a couple of doctors with clipboards in the room. Casey's heart shattered as he looked at his unconscious boyfriend. Jace had many different machines hooked up to him, and he looked quite pale.
Casey walked over and stared at Jace's lifeless body. The only way Casey could tell that Jace was still alive was by the sharp beeps of his heart monitor and the shallow intake of his breaths.
"You can talk to him," one of the doctors said, catching Casey's attention. "He can hear what you say."
"Okay.." Casey said. Casey didn't know what to say. Should he apologize? Or just confess all of his feelings? What if Jace never wakes up? All of the thoughts flowing through Casey's head startled him. Jace was going to be fine.
Kelly went on to asking the doctors a bunch of questions about Jace's health and if they had found anything life threatening. Casey stared at Jace, not knowing what to do or to say. Finn walked over and hugged his punk friend.
"He's going to be okay.." Finn said, looking at his unconscious best friend. "He's very strong."
"I hope so.." Casey said.
