Naomi
"Are you fucking serious?" I asked in shock.
"Yeah, you know I'd only tell you this for your sake." Ray rubbed my arm.
"Thank you for telling me." I paused. I could feel my eyes watering. "Can I have some alone time?"
"Yeah." He walked out my room and shut my door.
I took some deep breaths before dialing Key's number.
"Hey, girl!" Key said once she answered.
"Hey, can I ask you a question?" I got straight to the point.
"Yeah, what is it?" She asked.
"Who's your baby's father?"
"Ace, you know the boy from the party."
"Yeah, I remember. I thought you were messing with his friend, Blue, though?"
"Blue ain't shit. Ace treats me way better than him." She said.
"Oh okay." I played along. The entire time I wanted to cry, though. "And how far along are you?" I asked.
"6 weeks, just got confirmed with the doctor." She said.
I hung up the phone. 6 weeks...this nigga fucked her after I lost my virginity to him. He ain't nothing but an ain't shit ass nigga.
I stared into space, still feeling the shock from the news. I jumped when I heard my phone ring. It was Anthony.
"Anthony, I don't want to hear anything from you. Don't call me again, don't text me, don't ever speak to me again." I hang up before he can even get a word in.
The adrenaline I felt from ending the call pushed me to continue my day. I hopped in the shower and change into my school uniform: a white button up and grey skirt. I decided to skip the makeup today and just wore my hair down.
I walked to school, blasting "Blk Girl Soldier" by Jamila Woods in my headphones.
Once I got to school, Anthony was standing at my locker.
"Please, let me explain, Na. I never meant to hurt you." He said as I grabbed my books for class.
I didn't even look in his direction but just closed my locker and walked away to my class.
After school, I headed to work. I changed my clothes once I got inside, and quickly clocked in to get to the register right before the after school rush.
"Hey, Na. How was school?" Steph asked once I got to the register.
"It was okay, a normal day." I replied. That was one thing about me; I was bomb at hiding my feelings.
The entire day at work, I yearned to go out and get high. That was the only thing that would distract me from the pain I was feeling.
To make matters worse, Anthony walked into my job at closing. I was sweeping the floors when I noticed him walk into the restaurant with a bouquet of flowers in his hand.
"Na, I'm sorry." He tried to hand me the flowers. I continued to sweep.
"I'm begging you to just let me explain." He followed me as I swept. I walked to the back of the restaurant to grab cleaning supplies to wipe down the register.
"Na, you can go. I'll do the rest. "She said as she looked at Anthony. She could tell I had a more important issue to take care of.
"Thank you, Steph. See you." I said before walking to the back.
I grabbed my windbreaker and walked out of the restaurant. Anthony followed behind me.
"You could have left those flowers at the store...you gonna need the money to help support your baby on the way." I said with an attitude.
"Just let me apologize." He said helplessly.
"There's nothing you can say to fix this, Anthony." I shook my head.
"Please."
I was silent.
"At first, I'm not gonna lie, I didn't think much would happen with us. I knew you were a nice girl, but I wasn't interested in a relationship. I didn't want to get hurt again. So, since things weren't exclusive between us, I slept with someone else. Yes, it was wrong...I'll admit to that. I should have taken things between us more seriously. I didn't know how much I liked you until you started ignoring me. Shit, I was really miserable...I tried to find you at ya job but you weren't there. I drove by your house and had to stop myself from knocking on the door. Na, I really want this to work. I just feel like your brother June always trying to come between us."
I scrunched up my face. "Ray is trying to keep me safe from niggas like you. Losing my virginity to you didn't mean shit...and out of all people you fucked my friend? You met us at the same party, so there was no excuse. There's no coming back from this, Anthony." I walked up the steps to my house and close the door, leaving Anthony outside.
