I sat in the office, thinking about the conversation I had with Mrs.Crenshaw. Damn, I really wasn't ready to leave this place. But, I knew it was for the better. Mrs. Crenshaw was right; I need to be a role model for Naomi. I also thought about Lamont. What if this nigga really did set me up? It's hard to believe, considering how I never did this nigga wrong...but you never know. Speaking of, I remembered that I needed to give him a call.

I dialed his number on my phone.

"Fuck you want?" Blue said once he answered the phone.

"What's up with all the animosity, Blue? I ain't did shit to you." I replied.

"I been sticking to the agreement...there shouldn't be a reason why you calling my phone."

"Well I got some questions that need to be answered."

"What makes you think I got the answers?" Blue asked with an attitude.

"Because they got to do with the day I got busted." I answered sternly.

"Okay...what about it? Wrong place, wrong time...case closed." Blue said blandly.

"Yeah, but yo ass was always with me when we was selling...where were you that day?" I asked. I wanted to see if he'd change his story.

"I told you, I had woke up late, so I was running late. I was still getting dressed when I found out you got busted." Blue said. Lies. Wow, this nigga really did set me up.

"Woke up late? Nigga you said you was on your way...that you went to go get bacon egg and cheese sandwiches." I caught him in his lie.

Blue got silent.

"Yeah, I bet you forgot that nigga...did yo ass also forget that Haze told you not to let me sell on that block? That yo ass never told me the memo and that's why I got busted? Why, Monty? Why'd you do it?" I asked. At this point my blood was boiling.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Blue finally said. Really, that's all this nigga could say to me?

Snippets of conversations about Lamont and popped up in my head as I began to piece information together.

The first conversation was when Lamont and me were still selling. He was angry about selling.

"I'm tired of running the block, Terror and Haze don't appreciate shit I do. Watch, in ten years, Imma be running my own shit."

The second was when Terror told me the extra information about how I got busted.

"Haze told Monty not to let anyone sell on the block because he knew it was hot. Haze was mad that Monty let you get caught."

The third was at the meeting. When Lamont and I were talking about the past.

"I ain't never give a fuck about Terror or Haze. I was only selling with them niggas cuz you had loyalty with them. You got busted and Haze got killed; I started worrying about myself."

I had said: "Haze's killers can come after you now, nigga. As easy as I found out who you really was, they can too."

Blue replied. "I ain't worried about no niggas now."

"Lamont, riddle me this. It's so convenient that Haze got killed after I got sent to jail, by you. How do I know this wasn't a part of your plan too?" I asked.

"I told Terror the descriptions of them niggas. They the reason my ass had to lay low for a while." Blue replied.

"But all of a sudden, there's no reason to worry about them. Like I said before, they can easily find you like I did. What's changed?"

Blue got silent.

"Because I think there was never any niggas for you to scared of. This was all a part of your plan. You always planned on running the business one day, but you knew you couldn't do it with Haze in charge. You got me busted so you could kill off Haze, then you had to lay low to build your business. You thought, I can just change my name, no one will know that it's me. Then you pop up, trying to steal my corners thinking I wouldn't notice. All in your little plot to eventually take over the city. Wasn't it, Lamont?" I asked with gritted teeth.

No response.

"That's all I needed to hear." I hung up the phone.

I almost forgot to post this tonight lol sorry y'all ❤️
