Naomi

It was Saturday afternoon, and I had just finished my jog around the neighborhood. I stepped into the house, kicked off my shoes and placed my hands on my knees to catch my breath. I hadn't noticed Justin standing in the kitchen making my daily smoothie and his daily cup of coffee.

"One strawberry, banana smoothie with coconut milk for you, my love." Justin said as he poured the smoothie from the blender into a glass.

"Thank you, baby." I gave him a kiss on the cheek before picking up the glass.

After finishing my smoothie, I completed my morning routine and got dressed in a sweatsuit to lounge around the house in. I turned on the TV, searching for a show to pass the time by with. Justin walked into the room, which made me remember the question I meant to ask him earlier that afternoon:

"What do you want me to wear for dinner tonight?" I asked him as I watched him walk towards our dresser and open up a drawer. Justin told me to clear my schedule so that we could go out to eat that evening; I wanted to get more information so that I could decide what type of outfit I should wear.

"A dress, not too fancy. Something sexy where I can't wait to peel it off as soon as we get back in this house," He smirked before placing clean workout clothes from the drawer to the bed. Around this time every weekend, Justin would go to the basketball court for workouts.

I laughed and rolled my eyes at him playfully, continuing to flip through the channels. I finally settled on watching Wife Swap.

"Watching our show without me?" Justin joked. I rolled my eyes at him.

"I'm just trying to pass the time by. It's reruns, anyways." Justin and I had watched every episode of the show, and every Monday evening we would lay up and watch the newest one. Well, whenever I didn't fall asleep mid episode.

"Okay , you better not watch last Monday's episode. I waited for you since you fell asleep on it."

I laughed. "Okay I won't. Have a good workout, babes." I told him after he picked up his workout bag and walked toward our bedroom door.

"I will. I love you," He blew me a kiss before walking out of the door.

"Are you ready to go?" Justin asked as he sprayed his cologne on his wrists.

"Yup," I replied before standing up from the chair near my vanity. I had just put on a silver necklace that complimented the silver heels and wine red v-neck dress I was wearing. It fell almost to my knees, just enough to look classy yet cute.

Justin looked over my outfit before sucking in his bottom lip. "mmm, you gon make us miss our reservations."

I laughed. "Thank you baby," I pecked his lips before looking over his outfit.

He wore a white button up with the top couple unbuttoned, revealing his gold chain. He decided to match my outfit by wearing slim burgundy pants with black loafers.

"you look and smell delicious as well," I stuck my tongue out and smirked as I followed him to the front door.

"you better stop playing before I spread you across this couch," Justin pointed at our living room couch.

I laughed before making sure the front door was locked and closing it behind me.

Justin opened the passenger side door for me, and I gave him a small smile before getting in the car. He did a small jog to the driver's side before we pulled off.

"Where are we headed today?" I asked excited. Justin and I tried to dress up and go out to eat at least once a month, and it felt like we had visited every restaurant in the area. It was 5pm, still fairly early, so I was wondering how far our destination would be.

"Shh, let me work my magic baby."

After having a full car concert and competition of who knew the most lyrics, Justin was still driving. I kept trying to bug him to get him to tell me where we were going, but there was no use.

"Can you hush and let me surprise you at least once?" Justin asked, pretending to be annoyed.

I giggled. Everytime Justin and I went out, I managed to figure out the type of restaurant or restaurant name faithfully. He grew more determined to surprise me with the next date. I had to give it to him this time; he had me stuck. I never anticipated being in the car this long.

After what seemed like an eternity, we finally pulled up to a restaurant an hour and thirty minutes away.

"How did you find out about this place?" I asked as I stretched once outside the car. I was glad I had ate a snack earlier because I did not expect this commute.

"I have friends who live out here. I needed suggestions since we been to all the restaurants in town." Justin shrugged.

I laughed. "you were trying your best to surprise me, huh? You got it; I have no clue what this place is." I put my hands up in defense.

Justin did a victory dance. "I know I did."

I rolled my eyes as I grabbed his hand, now excited to go to a brand new restaurant.

He laughed as I pulled him behind him.

"Reservations for 2. It should be under Justin," Justin said to our host.

I looked around the restaurant and began to grow nervous as I noticed no one else was in the establishment. I ignored the thought once the host spoke up.

"Yup; right this way Mr. Ortega."

We followed the host to our seats, and the thought resurfaced my mind. I turned to look at Justin. "Babe, why isn't anyone here?"

Justin just smiled as we stopped in front of a section of the restaurant. I faced forward and my mouth dropped as I realized the display in front of me.

Trey, Natalie, Natasha, my mother, and Justin's parents stood in front of a display of gifts and food. I turned to look at Justin and noticed he was down on one knee.

"Naomi Parker, you are the best thing that's ever happened to me in my entire life. I have never met a beautiful woman like you who is so strong-willed and caring like you are. I know you're the woman I'd wanna experience life with, raise kids with, and grow old with. I've prayed to God for someone like you, and all I can do is pray that i've been that same thing for you. Will you marry me?"

At that point tears streamed my face as I took in everything that was around me. I had no clue that Justin had something like this up his sleeve, and I was so happy that I thought I was dreaming. My doubt faded once I realized that everyone was standing around waiting for my response: "I do!"

The women in my family screamed in joy as I admired the ringer that was placed on my left ring finger.

"Now get over here and enjoy your engagement party!" Trey yelled jokingly.
