Trey
"Ray! Ray!" I ran out of the office as soon as I heard the gun shots rang out. Several other members of the crew ran after me, firing gun shots at the car in pursuit. I wasn't focused on that, though, as my brother laid on the ground pierced with bullets.
"Can you hear me, man? Ray!" I yelled as I kneeled down close to his body. His eyes were half opened, but his head nodded slightly.
"Stay in there, Ray. I got you, alright?" I pushed back tears as I examined his injuries. Although I didn't know how exactly many bullets he was hit with, I knew it was a lot by the amount of blood spilling from his body.
"I l-love you; tell Na and M-Ma that I-I love th-them," Ray struggled to say.
"C'mon man, don't give up on me! We gon' fight through this! Ray?" I called out once Ray started coughing. My heart dropped once I seen blood dripping from his mouth.
"Ray!" A tear escaped my eye as I watched his close. "Can you hear me? Ray!"
I checked for a pulse but couldn't find one. Maybe I can't feel one because of my nerves. Ray can't be gone. Where the fuck is this ambulance?
I gasped for air as my body finally relieved me from my dream. I also woke Natalie up, who was now staring at me with a worried look on her face. "Are you okay?"
I nodded my head before getting up and heading to the bathroom. Every now and then, I would have these dreams about Ray. They were more frequent when he first passed, but lately they were reoccuring as if his death was fresh again. After relieving my bladder, I joined Natalie in bed and wrapped my arms around her growing belly. Natalie and I were expecting our first child in 5 months. I snuggled close to her and gave her a light kiss on the side of her neck. Man, I love this girl.
"Trey, man, why you let me suffer like this?" Ray said in agony. We were in a small, dark room; I was sitting in a cold, metal chair that reminded of a jail cell. A light shone in from a small window in the room that revealed a hallway. Since the window was small, it left several dark areas in the room. Although my chair was positioned in the center of the light's reach, Ray stood in a dark corner away from the light. It was almost impossible to see him, but his voice was one I couldn't mistake for anyone else.
"What are you talking about, Ray?" I asked as I tried to stand up. Although not bound to the chair, my body wouldn't give me the strength to get up.
Suddenly, there was a bang on the door. "You know exactly what he's talking about!" I recognized the voice as Monty's (Blue). His face appeared in the window, his eyes bloodshot red.
"Where the fuck am I?" I tried to move but, again, it was like I was glued to the ground.
"You're in my world. I've been here for 7 years, Trey. How would you feel if you were stuck in this jail cell for 7 years?" Ray rushed from the corner of the room and was now inches from my face. "How would you feel if I made that son of yours stuck down here with me too?"
"I'm sorry, Ray!" I yelled.
"I'm sorry....I'm sorry...I'm sorry," I mumbled.
"Trey, baby" Natalie's voice broke me from the trance. I woke up to her hand on my arm and that similar worried look on her face.
"I'm sorry I woke you," I climbed out of bed and clicked the home button on my phone. 5:43 AM.
I walked downstairs and grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge. I contemplated whether I would attempt to sleep some more as I allowed the water to quench my thirst. Nah, I might as well start my day.
