I forgot to mention something; this book does not contain self-harm/suicide/eating disorders/etc etc, only mentioning of death, mentioning of abusive relationships and swear words

Why did I let him go? Luke thought to himself.  Luke had been so close to catching him, but he let him go. There was something about him that made Luke interested in him. He knew it was very, very wrong, but he didn't know what to do. He felt incredibly stupid, making wrong desicions on his first mission. What would the Upper Angel think of him? Luke had a feeling that He would be disappointed in him. He sighed and rubbed his eyes. He'd returned to the motel after the boy escaped.

Luke was looking through the woods when he saw him. The boy was hiding there in a tree, but the sound of Luke stepping on a branch startled him and he flew away. Luke had followed him to the abandonded house. He had waited there for hours, hoping that the boy would come out. But boredom got the best of Luke, and he went inside himself. That's when it all happened, and now he's back where he started.

Luke had no idea where the boy was and why he was there in the first place. He knew had to figure out who the boy's victim would be, but he didn't know how to find that out, hell, Luke didn't even know whether he'd ever see him again.

Luke felt like he had failed. He had the chance to kill the demon and he had lost him, because of his curiousness. Why did even catch him when he fell through the window?  Luke asked himself, feeling worse by the minute. If the demon had fallen, he would've been weaker and killing him would've been easier for Luke. But the fear in those blood-red eyes had been too overwhelming. He couldn't put his finger on why the boy had been scared in the first place. Demons were there to kill him, and even though he didn't look like a normal angel, it wouldn't be enough of a reason to be scared. Luke had to know what was up with that guy.

He got up from the bed and walked over to the window. Outside, the sun was shining bright and a couple of people were walking on the sidewalk. He sighed, envying their simple human problems. He looked up at the sky, trying to put his worries aside and admired the small white clouds passing by. Something caught his eye. In the distance, were the woods he had woken up the day before. He noticed something odd in one of the large trees. Black wings stuck out from under the leaves. The wings were too big for a bird, which could only mean one thing; the demon-boy was hiding there.

Luke picked up his things from the nightstand and ran outside. He realised that it would be quicker to fly. He made himself invisible and floated up, towards the woods. When he got to the border, he lowered himself down. He decided it would be better to walk, since he had scared the demon-boy shitless yesterday by being invisible. Luke made his way through the trees, deeper into the woods. He could sense the boy, and the closer he got to the larger trees, the stronger the feeling got. He knew he was getting close. He stopped between two trees and tried to look up, but the sky was too bright and the trees to high to see the top.

Luke decided to climb the one on his left. He was around half way through, when he saw a figure sitting on a thicker branch. He climbed closer to him, trying to stay as quiet as possible. When he was only an armlength away, he noticed the boy was sleeping. The fear Luke had seen yesterday was gone, and Luke thought he was quite cute, looking so relaxed. He got a weird feeling in his stomach, but he decided to ignore it, instead giving the boy a little shake to wake him up. The boy's red eyes shot open, widening in fear when he noticed Luke. His body tensed up, trying to get away, but Luke grabbed him by the arm. He knew he had to get answers from the boy, and using the boy's fear would be the only way. He stared into the boy's eyes, trying to ignore the tingly feeling he felt on the hand that was still holding the boy's arm.
