Ellie and Jason continued to spend every night together over the next few months until Jason had to go on a trip out of town for a job. Her birthday had arrived and Ellie was keeping it pretty simple. She had the day off work and organised to go out to lunch with her best friend, Rosie. She told her all about Jason and how much she liked him.
"I think he might be the one Rosie" Ellie smiled.
"That serious huh?"
"I dunno. I mean... I really like him. He's so great. He's everything I've ever wanted, he is sweet and funny and so fucking sexy" she laughed.
"Sounds like a catch".
"Oh he definitely is".
Just then her phone buzzed with a message. She checked it to see that it was from Jason. It read 'I miss you xoJ'. She grinned at how sweet he was. She typed a quick reply and put her phone back in her pocket.
"That's him isn't it" Rosie giggled.
"Yeah".
"That smile on your face is just adorable! You got it bad girl!" Rosie teased.
"Don't I know it!".
"Anyway, I better get back to work or the boss will have my ass. I hope you enjoy the rest of your birthday babe" Rosie said as she gave her a hug.
"Thanks for lunch Rosie. Catch up again soon yeah?"
"Always keen" Rosie grinned. "Cya!"
Ellie arrived back at her apartment and let out a small sigh as she tossed her keys on the side table. She knew she shouldn't rely on a man in her life to be happy, but something about being with Jason made her feel so complete that when he wasn't around she just didn’t feel herself anymore.
She headed to her bedroom to change into something more comfortable and when she opened the door she found Jason sitting on her bed waiting for her.

She grinned widely and ran into his arms. "You're back early?" She smiled.
"You didn't think I'd miss your birthday did you?"
"How did you- never mind... you've seen my birth certificate" she laughed.
"Ahuh" Jason smiled as he kissed her deeply. "Happy Birthday Ellie".
"Thank you Jason. This is the best gift I could have wished for. I missed you".
"I missed you too. I have a surprise for you".
"You do?"
"Yeah..." he smiled as he retrieved a large wrapped gift from under the bed.
"How long have you been hiding that there?" Ellie giggled.
"Not long. Only since I got back and hour ago" Jason laughed. "Go on... open it" he said as he handed it to her.
