For it being the second day in this school, half of the classes went by quickly.

The next class or what I have on the schedule is lunch. How lucky am I? I get to sit alone at a table since I have no friends. Which means no one to bother me.

Anyway, people would probably just talk about me having no friends and still being the newbie. It was only the second day so maybe I'll get lucky and make friends soon.

Instead of going to the Cafeteria, I walk to my locker. There is a textbook that I need for a class after lunch period is over. Plus I'm not going to actually eat lunch if people are going to stare at me. I already have one too many that does stare.

Arriving at my locker, I start twisting the dial to the correct numbers. I thought could hear something else coming from in my locker. I push that thought away, shrugging as it could be nothing.

Opening my locker, I see...

A rat. Not a dead rat, but a living breathing one. A brown furred rat with a long tail. It scurried to a corner in my locker, hiding between a textbook and locker wall. It's beady eyes looked at me with terror in them.

"You poor, little thing. How'd you end up here?" I said softly. I didn't need to scare it anymore than it was. I wasn't exactly freaked out by a rat being in my locker. I felt sorry for it yet at the same time I was a bit confused as how it could get in my locker.

Doing the best I could do, I retrieve my textbook and take out part of my lunch for the critter to have. I wasn't going to let the little thing starve. I even left a bottle cap with water for it. I quietly, but slowly close my locker door.

Letting out a sigh, I head to the Cafeteria. My mind wanders to how a rat could end up in my locker. It could be that it managed to crawl through a hole or maybe someone got into my locker and placed it there. I end up in-front of the Cafeteria doors in no time. I let out another sigh before walking into the Cafeteria.

Everything went quiet the instant that I stepped foot into the Cafeteria. Many eyes focused on me as I walked to an empty table, taking a seat. I couldn't bring myself to meet others eyes as nervousness fluttered in my stomach. I took out a notebook, starting to draw doodles.

Time seemed to fly by very slowly. I let out a little sigh of boredom. I could hear someone sit down at the same table that I'm sitting at. I didn't look at the person, but continued to draw. I hear the person cough softly as if to get my attention.

Looking over at the person, I see a girl roughly my age sitting at my table. "Hello" she said to me softly. She seemed to be shy upon first glance. "Hello" I responded back to her as nicely as I could sound.

"You.. you're the transfer student right?" She asked me, seeming uncertain. "Yeah I am. The name is Alicia Melville. What's your name?" I ask her, nonchalant about it. "Kiera Blythe." She told me, her voice going soft.

"I see you outcasts are at the loser table" A high pitched voice could be heard behind us.
