" ~ Everyday is a brand new day ~ " I heard my buzzing alarm clock right next to my head which made me startled as I flinched at the unexpected loud sound.
It's morning already? Felt like I slept only 5 minutes.
I grabbed my alarm clock and literally hit the 'stop-your-bullsh*t' button on top which made the alarm clock go quiet again. I groaned as I looked outside from my window to check on the weather. It was sunny which meant that today's day would be hopefully a good day.
I got up from my bed as I headed towards my closet where I rummaged throughout my things. I had no idea of what to wear today, but in the end I managed to put something random together.
I wore a white shirt with long sleeves together with normal blue tight jeans. The next challenge for me was; what to do with my hair?
I kept experimenting for 20 minutes straight which made me lose a track of time. Once I checked up on the time, I felt this internal panic inside of me as I decided to quickly curl my hair with iron. Afterwards, I quickly grabbed my things along with coat, and hurried to my workplace.
As I was about to cross the street and go straight into my company, my phone started to ring. It was my boss. I felt a bit nervous at why he was calling me because there was no reason, but I accepted it anyway.
"Yes, boss?" I said in the phone. "Oh, Jieun. Hello, I'm calling to inform you that today everyone can take a day off since the air-conditioners broke and there's not much to do. I've sent you all the work that has to be done by today. So do something like a home-office and until then be done on time. Every day means another load of work for you. Enjoy your time off." he said in the phone as he quickly hang up.
You can take a day off but you still have to do a home-office? How is this a day off?
I felt frustrated at all the effort I've put into my make-up today. I didn't feel like going home if I was styled like this, so I decided to head to my favourite café.
Once I sat down at my usual spot by the corner with a beautiful view outside, I decided to start working. I pulled out my laptop from my bag as I went to check the email he's sent me.
I almost fainted at the amount of work that had to be done by today. I sighed as I felt the stress fall upon my shoulders. Just great.
After a few minutes, the door opened roughly as a drunk person entered the café. I felt disturbed just by looking at him. I averted my gaze as I tried to focus on work, but then again, I felt another gaze which made me turn towards the person that was staring at me.
If looks could kill, I would be dead by now. There sat a boy with the most handsome features and it felt as if I found a soulmate at this exact moment. I felt already attached to him which was the first time that something like this have ever happened to me. The way he was smiling at me made me feel attacked; stop staring, you handsome beast!
I felt bad for staring too much so I smiled faintly and turned back to my work.
I couldn't stop thinking of his smile. He was too good to be true!
The next thing I knew, I saw something flying towards me, and as I looked to see what it was, I felt a cup slide next to my cheek which soon followed with crash and piercing sound of shattering glass.
I flinched at the sudden sound and the whole scenario in general.
My eyes soon followed to where it came from; of course it was the drunk man who was shouting some random words.
He unfortunately sensed my gaze as he started to make his way towards me, "Pay for me, sweetheart." he said with a smug smirk on his face that made me feel disgusted.
With my peripheral vision, I noticed the handsome guy straighten himself with each step that drunk person was taking towards me.
The drunk man grabbed another glass that was placed at another customer's table, still full of the drink, he threw it towards my direction, but before the glass could hit me, the handsome boy caught it on time.
I didn't see his face, but thanks to the reactions of other people in café I knew he must have looked really scary by the way the drunk man flinched.
After that, police entered the place and guided the drunk man away. I was still shocked by the sudden events, but I knew I had to say 'thanks' to the boy.
He turned his head at me as he started to eye me for any injuries but instead of letting him do that, I bowed: "Thank you so much for saving me." I said.
As I was still facing the ground, making sure to express my gratitude properly, he cleared up his throat with a cough which made me straighten myself again to look at him.
He was wearing a beautiful smile as his expression softened from before, "What can I do to repay you?" I said with a smile.
My face must have showed just how happy I was talking to him because he smiled even more widely.
"I'd like to have a drink with you someday." he said with a gentle voice that made my heart melt instantly.
I felt my cheeks burn. Did he really just invite me for a date? Am I dreaming? Since when does my love life turns into something mutual?
"That sounds great. Can I have your phone number then?" I asked.
I noticed he was a bit taken aback by the sudden question. Don't tell me I've just messed up with this hottie. Was I even supposed to ask for his number? I had to because how else would we meet? We need to think of every scenario right? It might be an apocalypse and the place where we are supposed to meet might fall apart so we need a replacement, SO THAT'S OKAY RIGH–
"Of course." he interrupted me from my thoughts as he grabbed his phone from his pocket.
I felt a wave of relief wash over me as I mentally heaved a huge sigh of relief. Thank you for giving me another chance whoever is watching me from above T_T
We exchanged numbers but as soon as I was about to enter his name, he interrupted me: "What's your name?" he asked.
I smiled at the coincidence of me wanting to ask him the same right now as well: "Jieun Lee, and yours?" I looked up at him, "Kim Jiwon.".
