*Josie's pov*
When I woke up that day, the only thing I wanted to do is talk to Hope. I dressep up and got ready. I had a magical history class in the morning. When I walked in the class, I saw her. She was sitting in the back of the class looking at a window. She seemed lost in her thoughts. I engaged a conversation. "Hey!" I said as I sat next to her. She looked at me within a lot of interest. "Hello" she said. "Nervous about your first day of school?" I asked trying to keep the conversation going. "Not really." she said without even looking at me. Her answer were quick and she didn't say anything to keep the conversation going. During the class, she didn't participate or said anything. Sometimes I would look at her and every time, she was looking outside, looking at the sky. Maybe she was trying to find answers.

*Later that day*
It was 10 pm and I was going back to my room. The werewolves were making a party in the woods and everyone was there. When I passed by the lake, I saw someone sitting on the dock. I quickly realized that the person was Hope. I observed her for a little while. She was looking at the lake. The light of the moon was reflected on it. "You know I can see you" she said without even turning her head in my direction. "Oh, I was just- whatever..." I didn't even tried to find an excuse. I walked on the dock and sat next to her. "It's a beautiful night." I said as I looked up to see the moon. "Yes, it is." Hope answered. "You didn't go to the party?" I asked even if I already knew the answer. "No, parties aren't really my thing." she said with a little laugh in her voice. "Oh yeah, you're a lone wolf." I said as I smiled. "Yes, I try to keep my distance from people most of the time." she said looking discretely in my direction for a split second. "I noticed that, but why?" I asked her, hoping that she wouldn't dodge my question. I saw that she was suddenly hesitant. "I'm sorry. If you want, I can leave you alone and go back to my room." I said after a couple seconds. "No.. You can stay. You really seem like a good person. I just can't get close to people." she said. I was glad that she wanted me to stay. I faced her and looked at her straight in the eyes. "I want to get close to you." I said regretting saying it when I saw her looking at me like I said something weird. "I mean as friends!" I hurried to say. She genuinely laughed for the first time. "You're a really good person Josie Saltzman, but I don't know if it's safe for you to be around someone like me." she said looking down to the lake.
"Why do you say that? You wouldn't hurt me, right?" I asked her. "No, I would never hurt you intentionally. But I don't want people to get hurt because of me. My family left me with a legacy of darkness and danger." she said looking at me with the most honest look in her eyes. "Your family? They were supernatural too?" I asked intrigued. She looked at me, her stare was suddenly sad, cold and hesitant. "Hmm you probably don't know this, obviously, but my full name is Hope... Mikaelson." she finally said after a couple minutes. My eyes opened wide open. "Mikaelson... like Klaus Mikaelson?" I said shocked. "Yes.. Klaus is actually my father... I would understand if you would want to stay away from me. You probably heard a lot of bad things about my family." she said sadly. "I don't care about rumors or books. Hope, you're genuinely good. You need to let people see this side of you, the side of you that you let me see at the moment." I said. She seemed surprised by my answer. Suddenly, her eyes opened wide and she stood up. "Josie you need to go back in the school and tell your dad to come here!" she said as an order. "Wait why? Did I say something wrong?" I said as I got up. "JOSIE NOW!" she said yelling. I understood that something was wron so I ran faster than I ever did to go find my dad. "Dad! I think Hope is in trouble! She told me to warn you! She's in the forest near the lake!" I said while trying to catch up my breath. My dad got up and ran away. I was so confused. I decided to back to the lake. When I got back, I saw a big monster! I got a little closer and I saw it. It was a gargoyle! And Hope was fighting it. The Gorgoyle suddenly hit her and she fell down on the ground. I ran to her. I couldn't watch her get destroyed so I took her hand and siphon some magic from her. When I got enough, I threw a spell to stop the gargoyle. It affected it but it got up quickly. It ran to me and it was going to attack me. My dad just arrived and yelled at me telling me to protect myself. I got here before him because I used a shortcut to get here faster. When I thought it was going to hit me, Hope got between me and the monster and it hit her instead of me. Then, she threw a spell at the gargoyle. Me dad hit it with the hammer he brought. I took Hope's hand to help her with the spell. After couple seconds, the gargoyle exploded. I turned around to thank Hope when she fainted. I was quick enough to catch her before she fell on the ground. I saw her arms covered in blood. She had a 30 cm long scratch on her arm. Me and my dad carried her back in her room. After about 30 minutes, my dad left but I told him I wanted to stay a little longer with her. I watched her sleep. She looked so calm and so innocent. Her arm already healed.
Today, she protected me and I could never thank her enough. After an hour, I fell asleep in the armchair in her room.
