"I need to know what spell she used on you for you to tell the truth," his mom says showing him the magazine. Without looking up at his mom, he grabs the magazine and begins to read it. It was his interview with Stephanie, surely nothing would be wrong with it as he personally requested for her to do his interview. And as he has been told by Keith and Gina, Stephanie is the best of the best at Pink Lady magazine.

"Never once had you told anyone about why you decided to leave your father and mine company, and finally you did."

"That's because no one ever asked," he replies.

"I don't think so my son," she says as she sits down across of him, "You had plenty of opportunities to tell but chose not to. Why you do it this time?"

"Because mother," he says with a sigh and closing the magazine, "with previous interviews they only wanted to hear and see good stuff," he says gesturing to his handsome face, "they were not interested in hearing my story. Stephanie though," he says leaning back in his chair, "she's different. As I sat there during my interview, I notice how attentive she was with my responses, asking more questions for clarity. Repeating my responses back to me so that I can make sure I said the right thing or add in more details. She wasn't interested in hearing about my wealth, hobbies, or nightlife. Genuine, a listener, and passionate about her job. When she asked why I chose that name for my company, I had to tell her. She was the perfect person to tell because I know that she'd make a great story about it and she did."

"She did indeed," his mom says, "I'd need to meet her one day."

"Same here son," his father says coming into the kitchen hearing the last few parts of the conversation. "She sounds amazing and if I heard correctly from Robert and Keith it seems like you're smitten with her."

"I am father," he says with a smile but lost wandering eyes.

"What's the matter," his mom says.

"It's just every time I think about starting a new relationship the past just comes back to haunt me and it gives me anxiety every time. I know it's been a few years, but it's just there like I'm traumatized by it."

"Time will heal," his father says placing a hand on AD's shoulder, "you're doing better already and in no time, you'll get through this. I will never forgive my brother, your uncle, for doing such a horrendous and sinful act for hurting my son, his nephew, in such a nasty way," he says clenching his fist.

"Anyway, since both of my favorite boys are here, let's all go out for brunch," his mom says. They both nod in agreement and he watches as his parents walk back upstairs to get ready. The past few years was hard for him, he spent his time either drinking or clubbing, it just so happened that it happened around the same time he decided to leave his parents' company to start his own. His behavior was so wild and obnoxious that his father kicked him out of their house. They couldn't handle the different girls he brought home each night.

Keith and Robert also ignored him for months. One day when his cousin, Miriam, came to the United States, she knocked the hell out of him reminding him why he left to start his company. He cried thinking about losing his cousin, Aliyah, and at the betrayal that left him heartbroken. That was when he decided to get his life together. With a sigh of relief, he flips through the magazine open to reread the article about his interview he thinks back to when Stephanie asked him the question.

"Last question," she says with a deep sigh coming out, "Why did you name your company Aliyah and Design?" He looks at her with hesitance. He has had many interviews before when he decided to leave his father's company to establish his own but never had anyone showed interest or bother to ask why he named his company Aliyah and Design. She was the first.

"I'm sorry," she says, "You don't have to answer it if you don't want too."

"No," he replies with a soft, but broken smile, "I named my company after my cousin. Her name was Aliyah. She was an amazing young lady with so many dreams. When she learned that she was arranged to be married to someone else, she ran away with her boyfriend. My uncle found out and when he found her and her boyfriend, he dragged her back home. He then—"

"Honorable Killing," she interrupts him as he looks up at her, "I've learned about it in college."

"She wanted to come to the US. I've told her that I'd help her once she graduated. Only I was too late," he replies with a smile. Only those close to him knew why he left his father's company to start his own. When he left, he told the media he wanted to stand by himself and made something that was his, made from his own hands, blood, and sweat. For all those years, he kept the story to himself as no one ever asked, but he was always hesitant to share it. Now, here he is sitting in front of a woman he barely knows telling her the very reason of starting his own company.
