Exhausted. Thirsty. Wounded. She collapses in the middle of the road. Thousands of miles away from home, she prays silently that may she never wakes up. Lies. Liars. All lies. When they came to her village, they promised all of the girls that once they get to the United States they will be provided with jobs so they can send money back home. Growing up in one of the most rural poor cities in China, she can only dream of all things and places she wants to go. Being the only daughter, her parents sent her to school in the big cities, but college was too expensive for her to attend so she went back home. False hopes. Tired. Barely speaks any English and now nowhere to go. Why couldn't she die like some of those girls on the cargo ships?

"She's fine now," a soft and feminine voice says. "Do you know her?"

"No, I was on my way back home and saw her on the side of the road. She was already unconscious."

"From the looks of it, she's been on the run for days. Her body is deprivation is due to dehydration and starvation. Good thing you saw her Agent. Anyway, I'm leaving now. I'll come back later to check on her. Meanwhile, when she wakes up, make sure you give her lots of water."

As soon as Dr. Kat, one of his trustworthy friends, left he comes back inside his room and stares at the girl on his bed. One look and he know she's here illegally, that's why he didn't take her to the hospital. Lately, there has been a lot of cases where they found bodies of young women. All foreigners. Autopsy reports show signs of rape, abuse, and drugs. Seeing her stir violently in bed, he sings to her his favorite song that his mom used to sing to him as he wipes away the sweat on her forehead. Only after she calms down, he walks out of the room to make a phone call.

"Enrique, how are you?" AD says as soon as the front door was open and goes in for a hug.

"I'm good man, how are you?"

"Never been better," he says as he turns back and pulls Stephanie to front standing beside of him, "Enrique, meet Stephanie the woman I'm about to marry in two months."

"Hi Stephanie," Enrique says as he holds out his hand. "I've heard a lot about you from Keith and AD. Glad to finally meet you."

"Nice to meet you," she says with a smile as she elbows AD in the side. "FYI there has been no talks of marriage yet."

"I know," Enrique says, "Since last week, AD keeps telling me that he'll get you to marry him in two months. I don't know if he's done lost his mind or there is some type of childish bet going on between him and Keith. But I'm glad he has you now."

"So," AD says as they walk inside Enrique's house. "You said you'd tell me once I get here. I'm here."

"Follow me upstairs."

Shock and bewilder, both AD and Stephanie look at the girl sleeping on the bed. She's so pale and thin. Even a gust of wind will break her poor body in half. Sitting beside the girl, she gently pushes back the girl's bang and saw the bruises that were covered in bandages. Curious, she lowers the blanket and saw all the marks, scratches, and bruises on the girl's arms and wrists all the while listening to both the men talking about how Enrique found her. Letting out a sigh, she pulls the blanket to cover the girl's upper body until she sees the necklace around the girl's neck. There is nothing special about the necklace as it's just a green cord, but rather the pendant that caught her attention.

"Fei," she whispers causing both men to turn to her, "I guess that's her name," she says placing the pendant back down between the girl's collar bones. Sadly, she never paid much attention when her grandparents taught her Chinese characters, so that's the only thing she can read. Walking over, AD looks at the pendant trying to make out the carvings on it.

"Fei, our precious daughter," he reads out loud. She stares at him from the side. Is there anything else that she needs to know. After all, she is supposed to marry him in two months and there is definitely no way she is going to marry a man who keeps on throwing surprises her way. Not even if he is her hot and sexy boyfriend.

"Don't look at me like that," AD says noticing the look on her face. "You never asked if I speak any other languages. And don't worry, my surprises are good things. Plus, you get bored when we get marry.

"How y—"

"You're just getting easier to read," he says a smirk as Enrique looks the two lovebirds. Clearly, they have forgotten about his presence. Clearing his throat, he got both their attentions but soon it was taken away from him.

"Mother! Father! Save me," the girl screams in Chinese while sleeping and Enrique quickly walks kneeling down beside the bed as he holds one of her tiny pale hand in his.
