She sighs in despair as she watches everyone else playing in the pool and here, she is sitting all alone. It's not she hates being in the water, although, when she was four, she almost drowned to death, but her dad rescued her. But it's because he is here as well. Yes, he as in AD is also here. Hayley had say nothing about it to her other than it was just going to be her 27th birthday party. If she had known that he was going to be here as well, she would have not come and make up some pathetic excuse. Ever since that kiss, more like a peck on the lips, she's been trying to ignore him. Then she ran into him and his family while she was out on lunch with her niece. He's tall, handsome, fit and well built, and wealthy he would not want to be with someone like her. Or would he?
"You're not going to jump in," Elizabeth says as she stands beside Stephanie, who was unaware of her presence, "we're all having fun and here you are sitting by yourself looking all gloomy."
"I'm fine," she says as she looks over to the pool to see AD walking out showing his almighty fine six packs and going over to a group of girls that are Hayley's friend from college. She had hanged out with them a few times and they get along well. Although, only one out of the four of them is the only one who is truly and really nice to her. She can tell that the others are just being fake whenever Hayley is around her.
"Let's go get something to eat," Elizabeth says with a smile after seeing where Stephanie's sight went. AD turns around from the four ladies he was talking with as he heard a male voice calling out to Stephanie to jump into the pool. His eyes darken hearing someone else's voice calling out to her in a flirtatious tone, calling her sexy, pretty, and babe. His hands clench into fists when he realizes it was Michael, a well-known player amongst their group friends. He smiles as he sees and hears her decline continuing to walk away with Elizabeth. Even Keith, Hayley and Elizabeth all told Michael to leave her alone. Then what Michael did next got everyone screaming and running into panic mode.
"Daddy help me! Daddy! Daddy!"
"Stephanie," her dad yells as he jumps into the water to get his baby girl.
"Oh my gosh! Help someone help! Where's the lifeguard? Someone get the lifeguard!" Her pregnant mom yells as she clutches onto her chest and collapses onto the floor, with her friend supporting her.
"Stephanie. Can you hear me," her dad says as he lay her down, "Stephanie, Stephanie, it's daddy. God please, you can't. You can't..."
"Stephanie. Stephanie. Stephanie!"
"Daddy," she yells as she wraps her arms around his neck and begins to sob.
"Shhh, it's okay," he says as he glares at Michael whose face had turned pale like he just saw a ghost.
"AD," she says weakly as she begins to regain her composure and breaks apart from him, but he quickly cups her face in his palms to make sure she's okay.
"You gave us a scare," Elizabeth whispers as she holds onto a crying Hayley. "You were unconscious for a few minutes and we all thought---"
"I thought I lost my bestie," Hayley says sobbing as she breaks away from Elizabeth and hugs Stephanie. "I just went inside for a moment to pick up an important call and then I hear all the commotion to find AD diving in to save to you and Keith about to beat the shit out of Michael." She looks up to find Keith staring at her with red eyes and then all the way in the back, there he is. The one who yanked her by the ankle into the pull.
"I'm tired Hayley," Stephanie manages to say, "I think I'm going to go back home tonight." She says causing everyone to open their eyes wide. They had all just arrived yesterday night and the party had only started a few hours ago, but after what happened all her energy drained out.
"Sure, I understand," Hayley says with a smile, "when I get back we can just have a mini party just with the two of us, then I won't have to worry about some jerk," she says raising her voice while glaring at Michael, "Cat calling my best friend and pulling her into some damn pool even after she kindly rejected!"
"I'm sorry," Michael says, "I didn't know. If I did I wouldn't have yanked her in."
"What part of 'No, thanks I 'm good. I'll join in later' did you fucking not understand," Hayley says while piercing through his eyes.
"I-i-I'm sorry," he says as he hang his head low.
"Excuse me," AD says as he lifts Stephanie up in bridal style, "but can I please know which room she's staying in," he says to Keith and Hayley.
"Beside Hayley's room," Keith says.
"Thank you," AD says giving Keith a reassuring smile.
"Take good care of her AD," Keith mouths to AD knowing that if it's AD she will be in good hands.
