Ciel backed out of the room, still blushing terribly.

"Well, don't you think you're recently aquired lover deserves a kiss?" Ryan asked Sebastian and smirked.

"I'm sure she does. But she cannot have one. I cannot let myself be tamed so easily." Sebastian replied.

"Is that a challenge I hear?"

"It certainly can be taken that way." Sebastian grinned.

"Then I promise to tame you dear Bassie."

"And who says i won't get you first." The black butler said. Ryan raised her head, and put her lips near his ear.

"You couldn't if you tried." Ryan said back confidently. She got up and walked out of the room, to head back to the ball. Sebastian watched her leave, chuckling, partly becuase he liked games, especially ones like this, and partly becuase watching her leave, definitely wasn't a bad sight. Soon after she left the room Sebastian followed her. Once Sebastian reached Ciel's side once again like the good butler he was, Ciel shot him a look somewhere in between a shocked face and a smirk.

"So ... Ryan .. is she ... " Ciel started.

"Sure." Sebastian answered noncomittaly. Both of them looked in her direction, to see that she had a knack for doing well in new situations. Though she had protested learning manners thoroughly she had picked up quickly and seemed to be doing just fine surrounded by men of all ages and status. This surprised Sebastian. Ryan was beautiful to him, absolutely exquisite. But normally English nobility looked for dainty fair skinned girls with cheeks flushing pink at every remark made about her beauty. A girl who was quiet with a soft smile, and long tresses of hair decorated with girly ribbons. As beautiful as Ryan was ... she wasn't that. She had some spice to her, a different flavor than the Englishmen here tended to want to taste. She gave an aura of 'I can take care of myself". Though her dress gave her a more girly feel it was obvious she wasn't shy or quiet in the way most girls were expected to be. In fact she seemed to be on the edge of downright flirting with the guys around her. But they all were mesmerized. Their eyes couldn't leave her for a second. Sebastian found that he couldn't look away from her either. Ciel on the other hand seemed to be the only one not affected by her. You could blame it on his love for his fiance Elizabeth, but many of the men surrounding Ryan were in love as well.

"She's doing very well..." Ciel said, ignoring that Sebastian hadn't definitively answered his earlier question.

"She is. One of the many talents soul reapers must possess is to blend in. Yet she stands out. But somehow ... it works." He said, more pondering to himself than to talking to Ciel.

"She's interesting ... but we musn't let this make us forget our purpose for coming here. That duke ... he's hiding something. Though he can't take his eyes off of Ryan either .. he isn't speaking. He must suspect something." Ciel deduced.

"I see. Well he obviously is like every other man of his status. He wants the thrown. But how does he plan to get it." Sebastian thought out loud.

"Whatever it is, we'll have to wait and see ... considering he seems to be taking Ryan away ..."

"Interesting" Sebastian smirked. Him and Ciel were both wondering the exact same thing at that time without knowing it. When Ryan had come she said the soul reapers expected something to happen. Something to do with the Phantomhives. What could that be? They watched as Ryan was carted away by the Duke himself. Sebastian knew he needed to know what happened. If Ryan were a demon or anything of the sort, he would be able to create a connection and see through her eyes. She wasn't though. But he though he'd give it a try simply because ... she surely wasn't only human either. So he connected his own mind and a piece of his soul to hers, trying to avoid tasting her in any way. If he did that he'd never leave. From her eyes he watched as the Duke took her too his room. Ryan knew something was up but didn't flee because she was sure Sebastian and Ciel needed whatever information she could gather. The Duke clearly found her attractive but it was also obvious that although he pretended he wanted her all alone for some fun, that was not the case. He pushed her down onto the bed and her mind flashed to Sebastian when they had been like that earlier. Sebastian smiled at the way her thoughts shot back to him and he sent a whisper to her so she knew he was there. She knew. She had never quite expirienced something like it before .. someone in her thoughts that way, but it felt almost as though Sebastian belonged there. Resting in her private thoughts and feelings. As the Duke came closer to her face, she remainded blank faced. Until his eyes flashed. Her eyes widened. She knew him.

"Ahh so you do remember me my dear Rachel."

"Y-you ... What ... are you?" She questioned, stuttering over the words that normally come so easily to her. The man pulled away from her, and paced back and forth. She dared not move from where he had put her. Her body was rigid just from his presence. How had she not noticed before. Her blood froze at his gaze.

"Well ... I'm kind of what you are. Not quite, but somewhat. But I'll explain what you are later. Back to moi." He joked around like he was her friend, but she could feel that he was not. He put his hand on her forehead and she felt like a gash was cut straight into her brain. Sebastian felt it too. Together they watched as their mind seemed to travel down the fiery pit to hell, into the cold, and to the center. Where the bright red castle stood out. Where the king of hell lives. They watched as the movie before them played out. Where a girl who looked alot like Rayne, and a man who looked alot like this Duke, were together.

"You're... his son. All those things you ... did to me." She managed to gasp out. "How could you."

"I love you Rachel." The man said.

"You don't know what love is." She glared at him.

"Do you?" He asked.

"Let me go Adrian. I want to go."

"Why? So you can go back to your job, that human boy and your beloved demon." He asked sarcastically. She gave no answer.

"I'll let you go today. But I want a kiss first."

"Kiss you. Never" She spat at him.

"I suppose you don't want to leave then." Adrian said with an eyebrow raised. She couldn't stand the thought of being with him any longer so she smashed her lips on to his and walked away. He had let go of whatever hold he seemed to have on her. She sprinted directly into Sebastian's arms and let him hold her while she shook. He had seen what she had been through. For a human, or whatever she was, to have survived that was amazing.

"Why did he call you Rachel?" Sebastian asked.

"I guess .. that was my name. But not anymore. Whoever that girl was, she's not me."
