Antonio and Funmi's First Year Anniversary was just around the corner and preparations were underway to have a big thanksgiving celebration at church before they go on a honeymoon which didn't happen when they got married. At present, they were preparing to go to Emeka's Christmas party at his house. Funmi was looking stunning in a black dress but the biggest "make up" was her radiant face overflowing with joy. Since Ikechukwu came and left, things turned around in her marriage and no week passes without him calling to tease her, demanding appreciation for saving her marriage. All she knows is that her love for Antonio was growing stronger daily. She sat on their bed, waiting for him to finish dressing up.

As he checked himself in the mirror one last time, Funmi stared at him like a scientist studying a newly discovered species.

"Why are you staring at me like that?"

She stood up and hugged him from behind, "I love you Antonio and thank you for everything,"

He turned around and held her hands, "You are still tense Saint Funmi,"

She looked down and wondered how he knew her so well. After his uneventful break up with Sharon, it took her some time to really trust him.

"I love you Funmi and I promise to honour our marriage vows for all our lives." He kissed and hugged her.

"I don't know how it finally happen but I only know that I love you, so please never forget that."

Funmi's heart leaped with joy as she was more assured than ever that Sharon was out of the picture. She alone now has Antonio and nothing could change it.

Emeka's mansion was buzzing with excitement by the time they got there. In fact, a lot of the guests were already feasting and making small talks.

Antonio sighed, was this a Christmas party or Emeka's networking scheme? Emeka spotted them as they walked in and rushed to greet them.

"I'm glad you could make it, come in and help yourselves."

"Thank you."Funmi said with a smile.

"Our wife, always looking pretty and breathtaking! Open your eyes well Toni and treat her well or else," Funmi laughed.

"Wife snatcher," Antonio hissed.

"Wife snatcher," Antonio hissed

As the evening became night, more people arrived. Funmi met some of her friends there and they soon whisked her away. They say down on a semi circular sofa and one of them asked,

"So, tell us how you managed to keep him for this long. We honestly thought your marriage wouldn't last because you were complete opposites."

"It is all God ladies, I owe it all to him. I'll encourage you to surrender your entire life to Him too,"

"Does Antonio love you?" Another one asked rather shamelessly as she was fishing for information on the couple to take to her gossip mill.

Funmi's face brightened and that was enough to answer the question.

"Ooooh how lucky you are girlfriend! He's madly in love with her ladies. Have you seen the way he's been stealing glances at her from over there? You struck a gold mine!" The other ladies carefully looked around and it was confirmed.

"Thank you ladies," Funmi replied and stood up to answer Antonio's ringing phone. He had left it in her purse since they left home.

He was just here few minutes ago.

Antonio had disappeared and she didn't know where to look for him in the big house. She spotted Emeka and Hassan chatting away and quickly approached them.

"Our wife!" Emeka exclaimed again.

Funmi and Hassan exchanged greetings.

"You are glowing every time we see you, our friend is taking very good care of you I see."

Funmi smiled shyly and politely asked if they saw her husband.

"He's upstairs with one of his clients he met here, workaholic."

"Thank you," She said and strolled upstairs to wait for him. It was quieter there and she gave a sigh of relief for escaping her nosy, not so well meaning friends. As she got to the balcony from the main passageway, she heard some voices coming from one of the rooms in the mansion. Immediately she recognized Antonio's voice and wondered why he would be quarreling with his client. She walked towards the direction of where the voices were coming from. The door was slightly ajar and she could see Antonio. The client was a woman but Funmi knew it wasn't a client but none other than his ex-fiancé, Sharon Otunba.
